Pony Corral / Re: My Little Pony references in other media!
« on: February 05, 2022, 06:39:44 AM »
My Little Pony makes multiple cameos in the old Studio C seasons. Adam was apparently a brony.

My favorite cameo was when Jason and Jeremy were at Matt's funeral, and they found a fashion-size Rarity toy in the coffin. Jason picked her up, pointed at her menacingly, and said, "Bro, this is my little pony!" All the while Matt desperately tried not to laugh from the grave.

Pony Corral / Daddy Bright Bouquet Price Check
« on: February 04, 2022, 09:39:48 AM »
So, I acquired a Daddy Bright Bouquet from someone years ago, and all they got in return was a MacDonald's Sweetie Belle. They had no idea that Bright Bouquet was worth a lot more, but at the time, I just felt great about the sweet deal I'd gotten.

Now, years later, I feel bad for what was essentially a scam, and I want to pay back the full amount of the pony's worth to the person I got him from.

One little problem, I don't actually have the pony with me right now, and all I have are some bad pictures of him from years ago, this being the best one, unfortunately. I remember he had some dirt I wasn't able to get off (though I didn't have access to a Magic Eraser at the time, so that might do the trick), as well as some small scratches here and there. If I remember correctly, his mane is a bit dry at the ends, and the end of his tail is frizzy. This eBay Price Guide says Daddy Bright Bouquet's current price is $11.34, but I thought it would be good to get other input, as I want to be accurate.

Does anyone would know his approximate worth?

Thank you and God bless!

It looks like Assyrian or Old Persian cuneiform to me, but I can't tell much else about it. It does look as though someone made the marks by hand...

here's the wikipedia page about variations of cuneiform, maybe you can compare the marks to their alphabet charts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuneiform#Akkadian_cuneiform

Thank you! Comparing the two, I don't really think it's cuneiform, though it is so similar. :/

I talked to my friend. She knows absolutely nothing about it except that a ten-year-old Russian girl said it was very special and gave it to her after my friend had given her a Bible. It's probably just a little stick figure, but I might look into having a jewelry expert (if that's even a thing) examine it.

Thank you everypony for your help!

Cool, glad I could try and help! Even knowing the material, when or where it was made. Anything she can tell you could help offer a clue.

I definitely appreciate it. I'll post an update once I ask my friend.

Am I looking at the right thing as I can see a figure? Head, shoulders, staff in right hand?

I can see the little person, too! Other people have seen it, so it could also just be a picture. To be honest, it looks almost like someone engraved it themselves, like the ring didn't originally have those markings.

It occurred to me that there's a chance it could be some kind of manufacturing stamp or something of that nature. I seem to remember that metalwork sometimes has marks and such on which indicate date and manufacturer...if it can't be traced to anything else.

I didn't even think of that! Thank you! I'll keep that in mind. :)

I don’t know what, but my guess is cuneiform (a system of writing originating about 3200 BC and is one of the earliest systems of writing) but it looks to be out of order compared to regular cuneiform, or it could also be a picture. It looks a bit like a man carrying some sort of stick to me. Does your friend know anything about where/when the ring was made or where it might have originated? We can rule out several options if we know where it might have been made (if it isn’t of Russian origins) and when.

Thank you so much! I'll ask her, but I don't think she knows any more about it than I do.

So, a friend of my mine gave me this ring that someone gave to her in Russia. It looks like there is some sort of writing engraved in it - to me, it looks like three characters followed by four exclamation points. Anyone know what it might say?

EDIT: So, I was told by someone on a different forum that it's probably not Chinese or Japanese. If anyone could even just identify which language it is (if any!), I would really appreciate that.

I found Strawberry Scoops, Chocolate Delight (without their sodas), Springy, and Princess Dawn (along with some little dolls and a fakie) all in a bag for $5 (I think? :p I actually don't remember, but it was cheap) at a thrift store. That was super cool.

Pony Corral / Re: G1 vs G3 Pony toys?

I grew up with G3s, and I just love them so much. It was a very long time before I got my hands on a real-live G1, but I had already fallen in love with them before that, even though I was born after their time. :p G1s and G3s just are so cute and horse-like (which I appreciate so much - lookin' at you, FiM). They smell nice, there are just so many of them. I love the creativity that went into them. And they're also just well-made.

The Dollhouse / Little Companion/William Tung Doll help
« on: July 02, 2021, 08:50:55 AM »
Hi, it's been a while, but I recently got this bisque doll at Goodwill. I've seen lots of girl dolls at Goodwills, but I've never seen a boy doll before, so I snatched this little guy up. The stamp on his neck says Little Companion, with a handwritten lot number of 1246/2000. I've tried to find him online, but the only place I found him was on Worthpoint, where you have to log in in order to see an item's value.

I was wondering if anybody could identify this boy and possibly how much he might be worth? I'm also wondering how much Little Companion dolls are usually worth (I've also seen them listed as William Tung dolls).

Thank you!
