Title: Using new G5s as bait
Post by: SunPony on October 13, 2021, 07:44:07 PM
I'm eager to get some of the new brushables to try customizing them (probably the unicorn party set).  I have a few plans already in mind for when I have "free time" again, like giving Sunny her leg markings, making Argyle, Alphabittle, etc.  But I'm wondering, do we have a sense of how rare these will be in the future?  I still feel bad about customizing a Feathermay, but at the time I customized her she was just...what was in the store, and didn't seem rare.  Maybe there is no way to know, but I don't feel like I have my finger on the pulse of toy scarcity, at all, so I'm asking all of you for your thoughts  :what:

Right now, I'm not sure any of these would be considered "rare". I've accumulated 5 Sunnys so far, not including my 6" styling size. I wouldn't touch non-Mane 5s such as Haven or Shutter Snap though.

I think you'll be okay using basic toys from the mane 5s.

Its too early to decide anything.  And we're already seeing an annoying abundance of the core cast. So go for it!

It feels more palatable to use stuff that's still in production-- it's less like you're taking from the limited pool of products, you know?

Meh, I've killed some of these guys already. They aren't really going to be rare, at least not by how overflooded Walmarts are with them. The only harder to find characters so far have molded hair (Hitch-not even released yet-and the Amazon set)

I picked up the set that came with three G5 ponies and three G4 ponies in the G5 style, to use for customizing purposes.  The small size brushables.  But I'm going on a camping trip for over a week so I won't be able to do anything with them until I get back  :lookround:

Cool. Have fun on your trip too.

Yeah, it's really too early to tell if they are gonna be "rare" or not. I did by one of the Styling size Izzy busts for a specific project. I ripped her hair/horn and head off as soon as I got her XD

I customized a Pipp Petals and have plans to customize several more figures. I'm also in the process of adding socks and colored hooves.
