sylvanian families - show your collection!
« on: December 20, 2012, 11:38:33 PM »
good morning!
i am not sure if sylvanian families are considered as dolls here?  At least they have a dollhouse and so much re-ment accersoires.

does anyone of you collects them? show us your collection!!

has anyone customized them? i bet thats difficult because of the fur?

as i child, i had a dollhouse with a bear family from "bärenwald", of which i think is the german equivalent to sylvanian?

what is on your current "wanted list"?
well, currently i am looking for ingrid, the rabbit with the spot on her eye, or another member from the blackberry rabbit family:

Yay, SF! I've been thinking about making a thread, but never got around to it.

I think the Barenwalds are a different brand.

I've re-flocked a Sylvanian bootleg to make a black baby sheep.

And on the Sylvanian Families forums, LadyLollipop has made an impressive cheetah custom from a bear. Just scroll down: http://bsfforum.runboard.com/t3393,offset=0

Wendy's site is a good resource for most of the families: http://www.sylvanian-families.net/

they have SO many new animals now, it's crazy.

I had these as a little girl and loved them. They were one of the few toys that I actually had multiples of and had the hoouse and everything - I think it almost all came from carboot sales or charity shops, but still. My house was really cute, too. I did some neat water marbling and used that for wallpaper, and I used postage stamps as paintings :)

Up here in canada, they are called "Calico Critters of Cloverleaf Corners" but at the kindergarden of my mom's school, they have them. They are really expensive up here too... The families can go for 30-50 bucks up here. but the ones the kindergarden class has a House, a few furniture sets and 3 families that i'm not sure of the names of (wealthy-looking bears, White Rabbits and Pandas)

Oh I wish I had photos of my collection! They're all in storage but when I had them on display as a child they took up our entire attic floor  when we get our own place next year I've told my bf they're coming with us, so who knows I might be adding to the collection soon. Can't wait to see everyone's pics though!

Yes! I love Calico Critters!!! I don't have my whole collection together (and I hope to take some pictures of it soon), but I think it'd be appropriate to share the holiday set. Did anyone pick this up?

Awww shockponie that holiday set is adorable!

I don't have any of these but I like them. I nearly always go look at the Calico Critters aisle when I'm at TRU and have considered ordering some Sylvanian Families things online before but I just don't know if I want to start on another collection...
I wish the Calico Critters line had shops and restaurants like the Sylvanian ones. It seems they only get doll house kinda stuff.

I love Sylvanians, I've had to cut back on my buying though because I've run out of room  Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get some new additions for Christmas! Most of my collection is on my Flickr account, here are some of my favourites though:

he is the chocolate baby with the small bed, it even has drawers! he is my first i got new and in box.
an all the others are from flea markets and partially in bad shape. U.U
i want to restaurate them but i am afraid to ruin them while cleaning. the method of letting them soak in handwarm soapwater worked partially on one grey bunny, but i am to scared to test it on the others.

some are in a bad shape with flock coming off, is there something i could do?
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Wow, families can go for $50 there? In Australia the average price for a new family is $25. I don't like Calico Critters packaging. It's bright pink! Yeesh, not all girls' toys have to have pink on them.

Thanks! Do post pics when you custom!

Sylvanian Families have a lot of restaurant playsets, and they actually have real Sylvanian Families themed restaurants as well. There was one in Thailand, but I'm not sure if it's still there, and there are a few in Japan. Japan even has a Sylvanian Families theme park.

Here's a blog post (with LOTS of pics) of a visit to one of the Sylvanian restaurants: http://goawaysam.blogspot.com.au/2010/12/japan-day-6-tokyo-2-dec-2010-part-2.html

That same person also posted heaps of pictures of the theme park in the forums: http://bsfforum.runboard.com/t3084 (scroll down to see)

The crocodiles and elephants are from a similar line called Forest Families. I think the bears are Barenwald. Not sure about the rest, I think a couple of the grey bunnies might be Maple Town characters. The middle bunny is SF, but the two on the sides have molds different from the SF bunnies.
