What kind of person goes to UK Ponycon?

I'll be going on the Saturday, but I have this image in my mind that most who are going will be well, 40yr old spinsters. I'm not trying to be confrontational, but the only hardcore collector of toys (my mum, who has decided to invite herself!)  Is really like that!

I've been going for the last few years and no, we're not all "40 year old spinsters". You'll probably be surprised at the wide and diverse range of age groups attending.

US member here. Never been to the UK ponycon, but I'd like to think it would be like any other convention (with exceptions, of course).

Given the con revolves around ponies, which are very popular right now, I'd expect to see the age range of people you'd typically find in a toy store. Old, middle-aged, teens, college peeps, and of course, children with their parents.

That's the nice thing about ponies (and similar toys). They bridge the proverbial age gaps in a very effective manner. You won't lack people your age to talk to, and neither will your mom. If either of you does, I'll be very surprised.

I've not been to Ponycon, but I imagine it's like every other con in that the attendees are varied in age (unless it's an 18+ con) and background. So long as you go in with an open mind I'm sure you'll have fun Some of the better friends I've made at conventions have been over 30. You're all there because you like ponies, right? ^_^

I went to UK ponycon for the first time last year, I had no idea what to expect. I was 30 at the time. There was every age group, little kids, teenagers, people similar age to me and older, and quite a lot of men too. It was great! And everyone got on well, I was nervous but felt comfortable enough to chat to a couple of people. It was just great to see a roomful of people who also loved ponies! Exciting!

EC - Why you automatically assume all pony collectors will be female I don't know? Last year, our first PonyCon, there were plenty of other males apart from myself and not all were there purely due to the G4 Brony thing which is the other normal assumption. Oh, and I can assure you my fiancée is neither 40 years old (yet!) or spinster-like - we're like a couple of 12 year olds most of the time!!
