The special tie-in books are pretty common, I found them a LOT...in fact they may be the only ones I'll ever pass because even as a kid I kept finding them *lol* the bedtime storybook is somewhere in-between, I didn't USED to find it much now it pops up every so often.

I found a Cheer bear last night at Goodwill and I left her behind. She was faded and missing some clumps of fur :( It wasn't easy to leave her. I sat her up on top of the pile in the front hoping someone would find her. I think I have only left one other Care Bear behind at a thrift store.
The worst one I ever found was a cheer bear too, she was terribly faded, thinning fur, snagged symbol that was almost unrecognizable, torn off nose, scratched eyes, missing her tail, cut kiss curl...

still bought her though *lol* I don't think I kept her, but she was in a big garbage bag at a garage sale with a gentle heart lamb that was in only 'slightly' better condition, still have her I think.

Um, sort of?  :)

I pick them up when I find them @ thrift (usually,) because I love finding vintage children's books.  But I don't actively seek them out.  Which means right now, I own like 7 copies of "A Sister for Sam," because that was apparently *the* book to give small children when they were about to become a big brother/sister in the 1980s.  :P

Which ones are you missing?

for me it's 'the witch down the street' and 'the trouble with timothy'..apparently there was a lot of mean kids in my neck of the woods. 'magic words', 'best' wishes' and 'bens buddy'...and anything featuring either baby hugs or the 'cousins seem to be a lot scarcer for some reason.

I can help with 'timothy' if nothing else if someone else can't, I only have one (decent) copy of the other two, (some have scribbles :-/) I always pick them up when I find them...these are just the ones I've accumulated in the last 4 years or so :-p

sorry folks, sorry...I had a MAJOR brain fart, I was thinking of sky rocket, had a mixup...

this is what happens when you have your ponies packed away for a few years ><

Do you mean the white haired version?   Or maybe you're thinking of Sky Rocket?  She has brilliant red hair. :)

I agree that the yellow hair just looks too "loud" on Star Hopper.  I much prefer the mail order version.

*lol*...I was looking them up shortly after I made my reply and was like 'oops...wrong pony'

It's a lovely re-hair though!

 :sheepish:

I didn't even know there was a starhopper with a yellow mane and tail initially, I always had the red version, a childhood favorite actually...the other version just looks...Bleh, glad Hasbro fixed that.

Foreign/Nirvana collector pose ponies that came in other poses in the US...I really don't like the 'shy' pose AT ALL, but seeing ponies that I've seen in poses that're different/more common in the US always make me go...I want that!

The shy pose applejack is a really good example...but I've always liked her anyways.

Another fav set, but for some reason in all my years the 'Cranberry' one was the only one I've ever found anywhere...and just haven't taken the time to purchase the others yet :-/, do want her though.

Is it possible you also posted this in SFE?

I think I just recently replied to you there- but if not, there is a really cute NRFB vintage kid on ShopGoodwill.com right now-  I think his bid was like $6 last I looked (CPKs are not expensive these days)

Heya! Yep that's me...I haven't hopped on there in a while though, I'm sorry, I do check Goodwill every so often...I actually got the kid featured in the first post here from there! Shipping is killer on that site though, I ended up just spending as much there as I have on ebay for a few kids with boxes...maybe more, so I haven't really gone back there as much :-/ For the most part the CPK themselves aren't expensive, really depends on what 'popular' headmold is, as well if it's foreign or not...right now the pacifier face #4 seems to fetch really high prices.

Yeah- shipping is high-  However, they do let you pick up so if there is ever a listing based on a nearby Goodwill, you can save that horrendous fee they charge...

Oh yea! None in my area have listed CPK yet, but I have gotten a few other things that way! :)

Oh and the 'Designer Line' of kids with the snazzy blatantly obvious late 80's clothes and hairstyles...I love those, but they always go too high!

I just have the plain ol' us version, a couple I think...I dug this one out of a Box I've just been tossing extras in, she needed a good cleaning! I have a better one, and I do like her, she's one of the more 'iconic' ponies to me.

unfortunately she's a little yellowed...well, really yellowed.

Yeah, funny..I've found more Care Bears in the wild than ponies..  :P Another cool thing, I found a mini Wish Bear while out antique shopping on my birthday last year... I didn't have him - ever, not even as a kid, so it was a pretty exciting find.

Me, too! I found a lot of Care Bears in the wild.

Everyone has such awesome collections!

...Me three, just last year I found THREE, count 'em three vintage brave heart lions, and they were all mint...at the same goodwill. How nutty is that? Used to be when I was younger, I'd only find well loved bears in the wild, lately it's been all mint, never touched or played with bears. I even found a champ bear, friend bear, and a wish bear last December...then another wish bear earlier this year. Not that I'm complaining of course, it just seems that it would've been the other way around, finding more 'loved' bears now and 'mint' ones earlier on...Definitely barely ever find ponies as often, and NEVER in pristine shape...

oh and shy violet, loving that Cheer-ish bear...reminded me I have a really goofy goodluck bear, with birthday bears mouth! I'll have to get a photo of him he's buried in here...someplace.

They're my first collecting love! Had 200 at collecting peak, mostly Colecos(not easy in England) , plus 4 softies, 4 TRUS (not sold here) and some Mattels and PAs, but have had to downsize to about 45 now, plus poseables and PVC minis. I collect black and asian kids. Wish I lived in America, you have all the TRUs and Babyland kids as well!

Heya! Wow that was quite a few! I have about...erm, maybe 30+ now (and rapidly running out of room myself *lol*) I got a bunch just a few days ago at a sale. A lot of them that I have need a little work (and clothes!) but I'm really enjoying them all the same. I remember the TRU kids, they're among my favs, I've only snagged one so far (they're not easy to find cheap nowadays, only one I have is this gal so far, but I'm hoping to get some more at some point!)

I still have to get around to purchasing some of these for my wingless flutters, I have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many that I've picked up in the last few years (like 10 I think.) i'm glad they have the reproduction ones because, as mentioned they just don't look right without them! I still love 'em though, they're among my favorites, I'm glad have at least a few with their original wings.
