Pony Corral / PC Lavender Dream Castle
« on: October 21, 2019, 08:27:54 AM »
I'm back after a few years away and am planning to sell the rest of my childhood pony collection.  I have a complete Lavender Dream Castle.  Everything in it comes from my childhood, except 1 purple goblet that I purchased.  It is identical to my childhood goblet so I'm pretty certain it's original.

Being so rare, I don't even know how to price it.  Would it be better to sell as a set, or split it up?  Most accessories are in NM/excellent condition, except as mentioned below.  I tried to input actual photos into the page, but Photobucket was giving me trouble, so I've only been able to link to the album below.

Condition Issues
Playset: lots of glue yellowing, top and bottom hinges on one side are broken, flag stickers have some age spots
Throne: bottom portion has a tag of plastic breaking off (not visible on display), small black dot near pony on front, pink felt has small discolorations (impossible to photograph)
Goblets: one is bent
Spike: small discoloration at corner of mouth, small paint rub to right foot
Cape: small discoloration spot (haven't tried to clean)
Damsel hat: elastic is frayed, ribbons were put in so the knot it in the middle instead of the end
Brush and Comb: I am 99% sure that these are the right colors.  I always kept my childhood collection separate from my "new" collection and before I sold anything, I checked colors of everything against the wiki, but I can't 100% guarantee that they are the right colors.

Introductions / Hi Again!
« on: October 21, 2019, 07:08:28 AM »
Hi,
I am back after a few years ?!?! away.  Though I still have fond memories of ponies, I've decided to sell my collection.  I've already sold most of it via ebay, but have still held onto my childhood collection.  It's time to let those go as well, but for sentimental reasons (plus some are very rare/valuable), I wanted to log back on here to make sure that they go to people who will really appreciate them.

MLP Nirvana / Re: Do you collect nirvana accessories?
« on: February 27, 2017, 05:59:25 AM »
Hmm never really think about accessories that much (well except the odd baby ones like duck pully), don't even know if ive seen a Nirvana one  (well i guess UK ones i have  :P) but if it's for a winger or baby then yeah i would probably like it ^.^

Not so fussed about having complete pony/accessories (although wouldn't turn it away) my plan atm is to get lots of duck pulls  although i only have the one so far  ^.^

I have a pink and blue duck pull toy.  Any idea who it came with?

Pony Corral / Re: What do you think? Lightning's brush (fingers crossed)?
« on: February 16, 2016, 06:41:15 AM »
Sorry, I don't think it's Lightning's brush :(

I've noticed the different shades too, but below is a photo of the two brushes you have with Lightning's brush on the left.  It's a WAY lighter shade difference.

Pony Corral / Re: A way to clean yellowed playset plastic?
« on: February 05, 2016, 11:05:54 AM »
I've only used it on white playsets: the Buggy and Stable, but it's worked really well on both of those, so I'd guess it would work on the kitchen too.  Other people have reported success on colored playsets, but I can't vouch for them personally.

Pony Corral / Re: Original ribbon colors

Ribbons can be so tricky!  I would suggest starting with the US G1 backcards.  They usually show the right ribbon color.  You might have to check other resources to get the right shade, but at least it would be a start.

Also, the nice thing is that you can visually look at all the ponies from a set at once instead of hopping from entry to entry on My Little Wiki or such.

Year 2:

Regular ponies: http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/a/aa/BubblesBackcard.jpg
Rainbow ponies: http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/7/75/StarshineBackcard.jpg
Sea ponies: http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/0/0d/SealightBackcard.jpg

Year 3

Regular ponies: http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/b/b0/CherriesJubileeBackcard.jpg
Baby ponies (Baby Firefly, etc):  http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/8/8d/BabyFireflyBackcard.jpg
Sea ponies (2nd set): http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/6/6c/SeaBreezeBackcard.jpg
Rainbow ponies (2nd set): http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/6/64/TickleBackcard.jpg
Baby Sea ponies: http://mylittlewiki.org/w/images/8/8b/SeaShimmerBackcard.jpg

The colors did "repeat" between ponies, so it's possible for two ponies to have identical ribbon colors.

What a  great idea to check the backcards!

Price Check Archives / Re: PC please on Good Weather 's accessories (some)
« on: February 05, 2016, 09:04:32 AM »
I bought a complete Good Weather with her accessories (the umbrella pole was broken and it looks like yours might be too)  last fall 2014 for $65.  I think I really got a good deal on her and I would expect her to generally run much higher maybe $80-100 with loose accessories and complete.

I also recently sold her beachball, starfish, and shovel for about $18 if I remember correctly.

Her sunglasses will probably be the most expensive, maybe $18-20 on their own.  I'd even be interested in them and will PM you :)

Hope this helps :)

I recently found an organization page on My Little Wiki that helps a lot with IDing accessories.  I generally use that one and the greatponies one.

Good luck!

Pony Corral / Re: A way to clean yellowed playset plastic?

I don't use a hydrogen peroxide bath, I use peroxide gel 30 concentration (the highest you can get without a license).  I don't know how well a bath would work.

I spread it on with an old toothbrush  and let it sit for a few days.  Depending on how yellowed it is, you might have to repeat a few times.  Make sure to use gloves since the peroxide will sting if left on your skin.  The gel also seems to lose it's potency when left exposed to the air, so if you're just doing the baby buggy, I'd try to get an airtight container big enough to fit it in.  I did this with my baby buggy and it worked a lot faster than the larger playsets that I had to leave exposed to air.

Good luck! :)

I can't contribute to the gallery, but I wanted to thank you for putting together such a wonderful site.

It's a very helpful resource :)

Pony Corral / Re: Oh no... I've started collecting accessories!
« on: January 27, 2016, 04:50:54 PM »
Welcome to the accessory-lovers club! :)

I second that lots are really good for collecting accessories, particularly at the beginning.  When I started collecting 2 years ago I also found lots of people selling accessories here at the Arena.  It's been a bit quiet over Christmas and the start of the new year, but I think the Arena sales will pick up again soon.

This was too crazy for me not to look up.  It seems like it's Barbie Stable Styles Playset

http://www.amazon.com/Barbie-K8595-Stable-Styles-Playset/dp/B000LRHX7U

what a weird concept

Who has more fun, blondes or brunettes?  Good grief

PS-great detective work Bibsy!  :read:

It makes you wonder if they have the same thing for dolls (which sort of reminds me of Return to Oz)

PS thanks!

Pony Corral / Re: How many G1's are there???
« on: January 27, 2016, 07:37:29 AM »
In my database I have for G1
US Store Releases - 464
US Mail Order - 57
International - 129

International includes unique UK, Netherlands, and German ponies (Baby Buttons, Tales Characters, Nesthacken baby ponies, etc)  but doesn't count "Nirvana" releases of the same pony in different styles like is common for Argies, French, or for instance the NSS releases of ones released in the US (like Truly or Shady).

I should note, I don't have them all - yet  but my database has an entry for every one I know about.

Hope this helps :)
