Does anyone here have Sugar Gliders?

I had some when I was younger. They barked, growled and of course weren't the cleanest of animals. The babies we had later would fling themselves at the cage wall.

I would also second the point that rats make much better, sweeter, more social and intelligent pets. They are literally like little playful dog/monkeys and adore you, give kisses, beg to come out and be with you, etc (which sugar gliders generally do not do). You just want to find someone who breeds them for pets, has healthy stock, and socializes the babies a lot before they come home to you.

This has been a real eye-opener about sugar gliders!  Thanks to everyone for being honest about their experiences.

I've never had pet rats, but I've had friends who had them.  They're SO cute!  And very smart / social.  I've often thought about getting a pair.
