It's the provincial holiday - St. John (Jean) the Baptist's Day. ^.^  It used to be more of a religious festival, but now it's mostly a day off for town fairs, fireworks, music, etc.  Like Family Day elsewhere in Canada, if I recollect correctly.

My son and I were lucky enough to go on a canoe ride, then we ate hot dogs, wandered the fair site, drank fresh-pressed lemonade... but it was too stinkin' hot to do too much else. :hot:  Last night, there were fireworks and a live music show - always up for fireworks! ^.^
