Hello!

3 collectors are planning to gather at Occoquan Mill Creek Park in Northern Virginia on September 03 at 1PM to hang out and chat ponies. We would love to have more folks join us! No frills, maybe doughnuts, feel free to bring sale or trade items. In case of rain we will move to Madigan's restaurant. Kids and dogs are welcome.

...and if you've never been, please take a little extra time to explore the little historic town, its tiny and very pretty, even has a waterfall! There are things to do if you have kids or a non pony person with you too.

Details:
When: Sunday September 03 @ 1PM
Where: Occoquan Mill Creek Park
Rain: Madigan's restaurant in Occoquan
Bring: Sales if you like, Snacks if you like
Kids: welcome!

You know I never would think to check your site for that purpose Taffeta.  Its a good idea however and i might for future refferance.

I get how it came to be this way. I get how complicated it becomes even with Euro exclusives, (Australia is so unique and complicated it deserves it's own topic) I suppose I'm argueing a technicality. Is it inconsistent to list Euro HK/China in the gallery (regardless of labeling) but not North American exclusives?

Im not as invested in this argument as I might sound, I'm just one of those people that sorts my M&Ms by color before eating them and the HK/China exclusives and newer generation inclusion looks out of place to me.

This was essentially the conversation I was trying to have before getting sent to the intro thread.

Apparently I've struck nerves which was not my intent, so i will try to not say too much. (which is hard for me to do, I appologize)

There are numerous sources detailing and defining HK/China Euro exclusives. It is very clear that something like mountain boys or night light were never avalable in North America. Nothing like this exists for North American exclusives. Even something like Wiki it's not clear if a pony was exclusive and I know of no difinitave list. So... should there be such a list? Not trying to be a troll, just tossing ideas out there.

For later generations with non Chinese production, I only collect G1, I have nothing invested in this so I'll leave it there. I feel like the community has evolved and that it would be a positive effort to include as many demographics as possable, that was all I was trying to say, sorry if that was offensive, it was intended to be quite the opposite.

Of course it might be more "dried meat" than "fixed", hmmmmmm.

Pony jerky anyone?

oooohhhhhhh, THATS what munchy made her hotdogs and burgers out of  ;)

Munchy just went silence of the lambs on us there

I got a translation!!

It's possible that it's a name, but the symbol literly means either "fix" or "dried meat" depending on context. That is much cooler than just a standard "Joe the inspector" QC tag of you ask me!

Now if that were my pony Id be inspecting her to try to figure out what they fixed ;)

More interestingly to me is the fact those labels are written in traditional script, not simplified. Characters like 號 stand out for that. Mainland China predominately uses simplified Chinese script and have since the 1950s. Hong Kong, however, I *think* use traditional script. Gusty was made in Hong Kong, so that makes sense. I wouldn't like to guess if it is Cantonese or Mandarin, though. That is beyond me ;)

The scribble looks like a character to me - the right hand part looks like the ninben radical
https://media.kanjialive.com/radical_character/ninben.svg
in handwritten script, but I can't tell you what the character is, it's too squiggly. If it's a single character, though, it might be a surname. It seems to be in the quantity box, but the numbers in Japanese and Chinese are the same, and it doesn't resemble any number character I know, even squiggly.

Cantonese and Mandarin share a written language, that's part of why most Chinese cinema is subtitled in charictors since they are relatively universal for the Chinese population.

The Canto using more complicated charictors *might be related to it's extra tones (Mando has 4, Canto has 9 I think). that's just my guess however.

the note is a charictor, not a scribble. I will try to ask a family member to help read it if I remember :)

super cool find !! Has anyone else found one of these before?

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: UK Postage Questions! - Non Pony

Thank you Taffeta!

Yes to all, I've checked the website and my primary concern is will Royal post ship postage to me in the US or Canada and I suspect the answer is no (though I admit I've not tried yet). US and Can post offer means to buy postage online and print a pre paid postage label myself, but Royal did not seem to offer a option like this.  (correct me if I'm wrong!)

Would any one in the UK be willing to either send me postage or have me send you the package and assemble and ship with all needed postage on it? I'm happy to pay for said assistance if you can accept PayPal or (ideal) if I could offer a similar service in exchange shopping, receiving packages or whatever you might need.

Help!

So my friend is a HUGE fan of a particular British actor and I happened to find info on how to request a autograph and reassurance that this actor is very responsive to such requests. Problem is I need Royal mail postage for the return envelope. I'm looking at the website and honestly it doesn't offer quite what I had hoped for (a flat rate cardboard mailer) so I'm not really sure how much postage to order or if they will send the postage international?

Is there anyone thatcan help me sort this out?

MLP Nirvana / Re: Who are the Most Rare Nirvana Ponies?
« on: May 16, 2017, 12:41:01 PM »
I think there are 3 or 4 bubbles.
Rarest africans are African firefly, powder, parasol, sparkler and medley.

there are 4 bubbles I had 3 of them and ember had the 4th. I just sold one of them. yes there is only one firefly, powder, and parasol and I have them all. I am only missing 4 of the African ponies. sparkler only one of each with different hair ember has one.

now between ember and I we have them all.

Do you realize how intense these few lines of text are? lol.

I think Bubbles has a good price estimate there. $1500 USD minimum and probably more like $2000-$3000 because yours is in excellent condition, in open market she could go even. higher. AJ is a popular charictor and the S.A. is the most bizarre or her variants.

Awesome find and a perfect price! Congratulations!

I haven't seen a MOC one, but I remember photos of Funskool ponies with outfits. Does anyone have those photos?

I remember that! do we know if those were sold separately or with the pony like some of the Brazilian sets?

Are there any pictures of a Indian Funskool MIP or of their back cards/box?? Do we know anything about their packaging??

I suspect they were packed in English language, seeing as India has a huge English speaking population, but I so hope and wish they were not! I can't recall ever seeing or hearing about a Funskool MIP but that has the potential to be a especially interesting one so hope someone knows something!

On a side, do we know their distribution? Was it all of India or just specific regions? Pakistan?

I've seen posts with people finding these in the wild, primarily in the US and UK, but only once (Bridget's mum?) do I recall a post about finding them in actual India. Do we know of any others that came to the collector community directly from their native country?

Tell me more about Indian Funskool!
