Just a quick question about US post codes
« on: January 05, 2014, 08:09:01 AM »
On ebay, in my buyer's address, the post code is provided like this:  12345-6789

But on the print postage page (not that I can print postage anyway because I live in New Zealand, but I was just looking) it's the exact same address except the postcode is provided like this:  12345

So what's the -6789 bit, and is it necessary?

The first 5 digits are the most important part. The second part "-xxxx" is like a smaller, more specific area within the larger 5 digit area. Many people in the US aren't even aware of what the second portion of their zipcode is, so it's not necessary to send the package. ;)

Yep, what KKV said!

Paypal is smart enough that it will just fill in the -6789 on it's own when you register your address. I only vaguely know what mine is (I know the numbers but not the order) so I never give it out, but it's listed in my paypal confirmed address as well.

As long as you have the 12345 you're good to go =)
If you haven't received feedback from me, give me a nudge!

If they provide you with the last 4 then use them
I use mine because my dumb town has a few different variations to our actual zip code because town grew too fast and when old part of town had to change zip code some to new one it confuses
Sometimes online sites won't even accept the newer one its suppose to be
So thus I use mine with last 4 to help mail get to me
