Title: My first HQG1C ponies!
Post by: The_Loner on May 22, 2020, 05:20:33 AM
I got myself two of the HQG1C ponies for my birthday early this month :frolic:. I have been so curios to check these ponies out ever since I became aware of them some months back but I haven't had a lot of money to spend on toys lately, but for my birthday I did an exception. I got Celebration and Whirl :lovey:

I am so happy to have another boy pony! I think Celebration is the perfect New Years pony and I can't wait to celebrate New Years Eve with him

I haven't done anything to his hair yet, I'm still pondering how to tackle all his curls. I love his multicolored tinsil - it reminds me of fireworks.

I love Whirl's bright colors. She's also my first pony in this pose.

I tried combing her mane and seperating her forelock from the rest. Sadly she has half a plug of hair in the forelock that is short and frizzy and sticking right up. I hope I'll be able to tame it and hide it within the rest of the forelock.

And now I can't wait to get more of these ponies . When Hasbro won't make new ponies in the old molds it's pretty freaking awesome someone else will! :frolic:

Wow, congrats on your new ponies and a belated  :birthday:! Beautiful ponies and photos, thanks for sharing!  :lovey:

I also treated myself to a few ponies (the ones from Nella) for my birthday, I can't think of a better pressie.

May I ask what camera you're using?

I have bought "Pepper Jack", I do not know if it is called that, and the truth is that it is a pony that is very successful and is very beautiful. Definitely if they made more big brother, it is possible that they would buy some more. which has yellow and Christmas, but I love "Pepper Jack".

Congrats on your beautiful ponies   Celebration is one I have been thinking of getting for myself, he looks awesome.  And Whirl is so perfectly white it is almost shocking!  Her colors really pop!

Happy belated birthday! The short hair on whirls forelock just looks
Like the machine didn’t pull it all the way through. Try lightly pulling it up to see if it goes to regular length.

If you need help with on how to tame their hair I can do a video on Facebook for you and post it. Just let me know 🙂

Thank you very much for your suggestion! :) I tried gently pulling at the short hair and it became longer! But then it came all the way out and now she has a bit of an empty plug. She looks much better like this, though! The hair that came out is a bit shorter than the full length of the forelock. I put a pic in the spoiler.

A tutorial for taming their hair would be pretty cool. Their hair always look so amazing in the promo pics! I'm actually not a member of the group on Facebook but I'll go and join it, have been thinking I should do that anyway :)

Thanks! It's always interesting to see what camera other people use, especially if you like the results. Your photos really are spot-on, they have so much atmosphere, I love evening back light pics. :) I have a Pentax K-1.

Thank you very much! I actually wasn't completely satisfied with how they came out so I really appreciate your compliment!
I'm not familiar with that camera but did a google search and it looks like a nice camera! I started my SLR photography adventure with my dad's Pentax back in the day :)

Heh heh, me too. And as it made sense that my dad and I could both use the same lenses, my first SLR (analogue) was a Pentax (birthday present from my dad), and I've remained true to that brand ever since. This is my 5th or 6th Pentax SLR now.  :)

Haha, it's the same with me and my dad :D - we borrow lenses from each other.
My dad's Pentax broke. I don't remember how it happened but I think the lens broke too. He wasn't that active with photography at the time. I decided to get my own SLR camera (analogue). The guy at our local camera store recommended a Canon and since there wasn't the matter of lens compability I decided to get the Canon and got two lenses for it. My dad then decided also to get a new camera, and since I now had a Canon he got a Canon, too, and a couple of lenses that were different from mine so our lenses complimented each other. We have both stayed true to Canon since then because, well, once you have picked a brand you are pretty much stuck with it because of lens compability :P lol But I have been very satisfied with Canon and am on my third one.
I know we have went off topic. Are you on Flickr or Instagram?

It definitely makes sense to buy the same camera brand as another family member. You can still use the old Pentax analogue lenses on DSLR cameras (I suppose it's the same with other brands), so being able to borrow lenses from each other totally makes sense, especially if you buy more expensive fast lens. Well, I think there are adapters for the different lens mounts, but I'm not sure if an adapter leads to a loss in quality or speed.

As I switched to full-frame about two years ago, I'm really glad I kept my old analogue lenses, like the 100mm macro. It works perfectly with my 35mm DSLR. I can also still use my dad's ancient ancient lenses that don't have autofocus yet.  :)

Yes, we have gone somewhat off topic.  No, I'm afraid I'm not a social media person, just good old e-mail or you can pm me here on the Arena for more photography talk.  :)
