3. Sunnydaze (sentimental reasons as well, she was my favorite childhood pony)

And for G4:
1. Rarity, duh
2. Starlight Glimmer
3. Sweetie Swirl or Princess Luna

It's so hard to choose these!

Weirdly my army ponies are not necessarily my favorite although I do love them...  My army ponies are:

Pinkie Pie - different G4 releases, a plush, G3, G3.5
Peachy - G1 minor differences
I would like to have a Lemondrop army because the variant are very interesting but I just don't have much luck collecting her.

I also have quite a few Bow Ties (Three adults: Light, dark, CP plus two babies) and a few Poseys (standard, faded to white, Euro), Parasols (symbol and pink stripe variants)and Cotton Candys as well (three adults: store, MO, alt rehair plus two babies one faded). With ponies with fading pink hair I normally have to have a faded one for display and a pink one in storage to look at sometimes.
 
So really they are armies of variants not all the same, does that still count? Or maybe that's the point? Because no two are really the same?

I'm wondering the same thing too....

I have collections of variants (also not necessarily my favourite, or maybe they are and it's subconscious?). So how many make an army? I'm not too sure.

Simply for nostalgic purposes, I still have my childhood ones. Now, if I had to pick from non-childhood ponies, now that would be hard. There's so many gorgeous ones!!

But......G1 always wins out for me....so those are my ultimate favorites.
