What pony did you carry everywhere with you as a child?
« on: December 20, 2012, 05:04:11 PM »
I thought this would be a fun topic!

I first started to collect G1s when I was in fourth grade. I started to scour flea markets for them. This was a few years after G1s were gone from stores (as I was born in 1987). I remember a friend trading me a G1 pony for a fakie. The pony happened to be the Pony Bride. I fell totally in love with her. She looked so elegant and I thought the tinsel in her hair was so beautiful. She went everywhere with me!

So then, I thought that I shall look at flea markets for them. Yes, I was hardcore into collecting at 9 years old and even learned what the rare ones were. :P  But anyways, my first flea market pony was a G1 Majesty. I even remmeber where the booth was I found her at. Sadly, the flea market has since closed. I fell so in love with her. She replaced Pony Bride in being the pony that always accompanied me.

My little cousin started to get into ponies and I gave her all my doubles. When I stayed over at her house, I always brought lots of G1s to play with. We'd oftentimes carry ponies with us when we went shopping or to church. I remember G1 SHS Rosey Love going with me for a while, then Precious Pocket Bubblefish.

I really can't think of any others that accompanied me. That Rosey Love is the ONLY original childhood pony I have left besides twins Noodles and Doodles.  So I hold a special attachment to these three ponies.

Which ponies did you take with you all the time as a child?

I don't remember any of that. I was born in '90 so I was way late to the party, but I remember playing with some hand-me-down ponies from one of my aunts in St. Louis and the G2s my friend had. When I was old enough to play with ponies, I was absolutely obsessed with Power Rangers ('93-'97ish?) so I was more interested in that than ponies, but I did play with them after I was less obsessed with them. I remember it was in the late 90's because I was playing with G2s.

I think I took most of my ponies with me to trips to grandma's house. I miss the memories of hiding under my grandma's table and playing with the ponies. :) tucking in the baby ponies at night over there.

Baby Ember. I collected pony points, sent them in (along with the money for shipping) and waited 3-6 weeks until she finally arrived. She was the very first baby pony and I loved her! I remember bringing her to school with me and keeping her on my desk.

I took either Baby Tiddleywinks or Baby Surprise with me - one or the other, never both.

Haha Bow Tie, I was born in 90 too so was also a bit late!

When I was 3-4ish, I do remember taking Newborn Snookums with me to several places. I played with her in the car. I never had "the" toy I always took with me though, I always rotated lol.

Not one special pony, I changed my travel companions all the time. I have photos with me and Cool Breeze, me and Splashes, me and some baby twins.

For me, it was Baby Dancing Butterflies. I absolutely adored her. I'd love to replace her someday, but she's out of my budget range.

Heart Throb and I fell from my skateboard together. She still has scratches on her legs and nose and normally described this day as the best one in her life.

SS Buttons :) and I still have her~
she went everywhere- shopping, school, doctors. She only got left behind once. We went to the beach and Dad made me put her down on the sea wall while he cleaned the sand off me before sticking me and my brother in the car. I was sleepy and took a nap right off, it was quite a long trip home. about an hour into the drive I woke up and noticed she was missing! After another hour of crying over her he turned around and drove the two hours back to get her, even though he was sure she would be gone already (it was a crowded place) when we got there she was waiting <3 He still teases me about it.
