The Dollhouse / Selling a good chunk of my collection.
« on: March 31, 2013, 06:49:23 PM »
I'm not entirely sure what to price these at. I've tried to look on ebay for prices they were going for, but we all know how ebay rolls. So if I've overpriced, PLEASE feel free to make an offer! I don't want to scalp anyone, but at the same time, I did purchase a lot of my collection with future resale values in mind. I'm pretty flexible on these, I just need to weed out of my collection and I need some extra money.

While still trying to cater to the girls who grew up with MLP in the 80's, Hasbro will begin marketing products to the now 50-60 somethings. Instead of cute tees with ponies in junior's sizes, there will be sweats, hooded sweatshirts, and flip flops. Not exactly a bad thing. But they'll also start making pony-themed denture holders, pony themed canes, pony themed bifocals, and pony-themed ben-gay for those aching hooves!

Following the sucess of the G4 line, Hasbro will continue to market it, but eventually when the four year old girls are no longer interested in pony toys, but Mattel's newest line, My Little Credit Card and Sephora's Playline makeup for girls things begin to go a bit haywire.  So Hasbro decides to combine all previous generations into one toy, in hopes to garner as much interest as possible. The giant heads of G3.5 exist on the torsos of G1 ponies, with G4 legs and G2 styled facial features. This will be generation 8.

G4 will be considered antique, like... an old curio cabinet picked up in some antique mall, or some 1870's fine china. Treasured mostly by the middle aged ladies and older. G4 will be vintage and retro, and will totally have a comeback, which brings ponies back into fashion after the great monstrosity known as generation 8.

Then of course Hasbro partnered with Ferarri will make a Firefly and Rainbow Dash themed flying cars.

Actively, G1 and G4. But I have others from all gens. If I find G3 and G3.5 at thrift stores, I'll buy them unless they're in bad condition. But sometimes I'll buy bad condition G3's as bait. :D

I'm building up a pretty good collection again! :D

Found a mint-condition Disney Store baby Simba at the thrift store (along with a bit dirty but otherwise great Popple and MIB Pound Puppy!) and a book!

When I wandered into Target today, this guy was looking at me, begging me to take him home!

He's big, cuddly and floppy! Pretty good quality too, nice soft minky fabric and embroidered details. :D

Husband complained that I have too many Simbas. XD  YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW MANY I USED TO HAVE! (Not to mention what I still have at my parent's house!) muaahaha!

They do take some getting used to, but I do think they look better on the toys than in the artwork and episodes. I don't think Mimic would have the same appeal if she were a normal pony, except being a green unicorn. XD Thank you for sharing that comic, Heliodor! >w<

I really do like the names, regardless if bronies came up with it or not. :3 It's rather creative, fitting, and nice sounding. :D

I would write the seller, too. I would feel guilty if I didn't. But I wonder who would put $300 in a pony? Who would put ANY money in a pony? Maybe I should look through all of mine. XP

The person may have had a sibling or relative that would steal money. I actually did that with my own cash. I'd stash it away in my ball joint doll's head because my niece would steal any money she'd find anywhere in the house. @_@

I'd also say write the person and let them know, definitely!

Maybe they'll be nice and offer some online after the convention, since she's so popular. I'd really like to own one myself. :3  They thankfully did the same with the MH exclusive last year, and I managed to get my Ghoulia for $20, but they did sell out after like 2 days.

Though with :muffin: Pony being so popular, It's going to be fun trying to obtain one on the site afterward, considering how fast the blind bags sold out when they were initially released on Hasbro's site.

Pony Brag Arena / Adopted Ponies + Thrift Store Finds!
« on: May 15, 2012, 08:47:54 PM »
Sorry, I didn't manage to get pictures and my phone is dead... (i'll probably post some in a day or two though!)

A few weeks ago, a good online friend gave me some of her childhood ponies! She wanted to give them to me because she knew I'd restore them and give them a good home! n_n

Sweet Heart Sister - Flower Dreams (a little scribbled on with highlighter. Currently sunfading)
Best Wishes - Her flocking is nearly perfect!
Birthday Pony (excellent condition except for ribbons are yanked, might replace them)
Up Up and Away (Just has faded hair, gonna repink)

And then today... I went thrift store hunting with my friend and got a HUGE pony haul! Most were G3 baits, but I grabbed them up anyway.

TWO shine bright Pinkie Pies! One with tinsel and one without. I took the tinsel one because I didn't have it and gave the non-tinsel to my friend, whose favorite pony is Pinkie! 50c each!

Christmas Baby Pony! I was excited because this is the first time I found a G1 at the thrift store. This one is known to put everything in decent condition on Shopgoodwill (an auction site). She had a bad paint rub on her eye, dirty, and had a bad haircut, but nothing a little TLC can't fix! Underneath all the grime she's extremely white (and only minor rubbing on symbols!) :3  Can't wait to rehair and repaint her so she can join the herd!

TONS of G3 baits (chopped hair, bad symbol rubs, sharpie marker), probably about 6, and one G3 that should clean up really well.

And a bunch of the usual MCD G3 ponies.

There were tons of Fakies, but I left those for the kids. I also found a Shin-Chan clock for my husband, and a cardigan to go with my MLP fairy-kei outfit (it's a Japanese street style involving pastels, cute themes, and 80's characters)

Is it just me who thinks all the new stuffed animals are kind of ugly? What's with the embroidered eyes on everything?

I like them much better than the plushies during the last dvd release (2002? 2003?). They're much nicer quality and almost on par with the original Mattel ones. It's probably a little more cost-effective to have them embroidered, but I did love the plastic eyes! Aggh! I need to rescue my original plushie collection!

BTW, anyone have any tips for cleaning the original purring Simba? I rescued mine (along with my little MO Mufasa plushie), but they're both pretty dirty. Some of it from smoke/tar build up. My mom was once a chain smoker and everything I had in that house turned yellow and brown.  I was thinking rubbing some oxy clean in. I remember when I was younger, I washed my purring Nala and she got all icky from water getting in her mechanism. ;_;

When I started, I bought a few of the G4 ponies, but really wanted to buy my favorite childhood ponies. I already had a few that a friend had given me stored away at my parent's house. Once I retrieved them, bought my first few childhood favorites... it was all downhill from there! It was really kind of G1, because I probably would have stopped at the Mane 6 if it weren't for loving ponies as a little girl. :)
