Okay, I have to know. This girl came in a box of ponies I recently got and I've never seen her before. I haven't been able to locate her on ID sites and don't recall ever hearing about a character like this, so... Who is this?

This is g4 princess gold lily. She came with fluttershy.
She and her counterpart princess sterling were only released as toys early on. Not too sure why hasbro did that.
-
Oh yes, I'd forgotten about her! Does anyone know what her symbol is 'of'?
-
It looks pretty abstract to me, though I see a couple hearts in the middle. Makes me think of G2 symbols actually, small and relatively simple. Makes me think of an award medal or machinery.
-
Always looked like hearts inside a gear to me. For a pony with a generic flower name, her symbol is certainly odd. I do like her springtime colors though. I have her and her setmate?. Sister? Cousin? Whatever. Sterling.
-
Sterling is prettier.
Here's (https://www.deviantart.com/90sigma/art/Princess-Gold-Lily-s-Cutie-Mark-517720647) a vector someone made of it. It reminds me of music for some reason.

I do like Sterling better.

That's useful. Maybe it looks a little like a speaker.
My first thought was 'cog' though. Curious.
-
Always drives me nuts when the cutie mark makes no sense with the name. Just gets me super curious as to what they were thinking or if I'm missing something
I don't collect the new generations but I collect G1, G2 and G3 and when it comes to the G1 ponies, as soon as I think of cutie marks not making sense with names, I automatically think of these ponies:
Sprinkles
Firefly
Sundance
Teeny weeny Whiskers
Cotton Candy
Butterscotch
There's definitely others but those are the ones that automatically pop into my mind

Could Gold Lily's symbol possibly be a coin?
-
Oh, it's Princess Buzzsaw! In the past, I've thought it looked sort of like a sun motif, but I like the cog idea. Being the princess of delicate clockwork machinery doesn't sound as glamourous as raising the sun, but I bet it's a pretty important skill in a society without hands. ;)

Wow, that's an interesting thought. There were gold coins minted during the reign of Louis XIV called a "lis d'or" (gold lily)... They don't have much resemblance except for the beveled pattern around the edge, but maybe someone at Hasbro is a secret numismatist?
