Asperger's, AD(H)D, and other similar diagnoses

Thought it would be interesting to know. You can choose up to 3 alternatives, if you have more than one.

From what I know it's quite common among people with this kind of diagnoses to be collectors and to obsessed with things.

I have Asperger's myself, but I'm quite high functioning. I think I have some "symptoms" of ADD too.

Here's some online tests.
Asperger's: http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php
AD(H)D: http://psychcentral.com/addquiz.htm
G1, G2 and G3 collector. I also collect a bunch of other stuff. (Too much..)

I've never been tested but my brothers and cousins all have ADD and/or high functioning autism. I like to say we're just eccentric ;) I'm pretty sure I have ADD. I also live with anxiety and depression, so my brain is non-standard. I manage relatively well, though there are ups and downs.

As for links to collecting, I've only ever had small collections of things before; mostly notebooks and postage stamps. Ponies are the first thing I've really let myself get carried away with.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in the 80s, when every kid was being handed Ritalin. I think it's bull. I have no problem focusing.

I wasn't sure what to vote for. Some people think I might have AS, but I haven't been tested or anything yet. There's been something wrong for years now yet I can't seem to get a diagnosis.  >_<  I was tested for ADD and/or ADHD when I was around twelve or thirteen, though, and they said I don't have it.

Well, many of my family members have ADD and some others have Aspergers as well as OCDs and other mental disorders (we are all weird... but we love it, lol, even if it is hard sometimes). Personally, I feel like I would have "something" if I put all my symptoms together, but in every case I never have quite enough to be diagnosed with any one thing. I was tested as a little girl, but not diagnosed with anything, so who knows. :P

I had problems with depression and anxiety for years. My depression seems to be gone now, but my anxiety has gotten a lot worse in recent years.

I was diagnosed with ADD when I was a kid, but haven't been treated for it since... man I think I was nine...? xD. I also have depression (diagnosed when I was in high school). I also have horrible social anxiety that needs to get checked out.. whenever I can have a car again.. and can find somewhere to do that, because I do wonder what other things are hiding out in my brain just needing to be diagnosed .-.;

I got mis diagnosed for ADHD as a kid because my teacher couldnt see that I was reacting to being bullied.  Back then they didnt have all the anti bullying teaching/lessons for teachers on what to do or spot for like they do now, so kids got away with *alot*

I did turn out perfectly fine in the end..just unfortunate that certain things happened and were not in place at such a young age.

I dont have either. But I will get a bit OCD over cleaning every once in awhile. Its very slight, but there

i think i have this!
Schizoid personality disorder

It is characterized by at least four of the following criteria:
Emotional coldness, detachment or reduced affect.
Limited capacity to express either positive or negative emotions towards others.
Consistent preference for solitary activities.
Very few, if any, close friends or relationships, and a lack of desire for such.
Indifference to either praise or criticism.
Taking pleasure in few, if any, activities.
Indifference to social norms and conventions.
Preoccupation with fantasy and introspection.
Lack of desire for sexual experiences with another person.

I have everything on that list!!! it describes me to a T!

My mother thinks that I might have Aspergers, but she has yet to take me to get an official diagnosis. I admit, I do have a lot of the symptoms, but I have been fine for the past seventeen years without knowing, so even if I was diagnosed with it, I doubt anything would change.
I also have mild anxiety.

Schizoid personality disorder is being retired soon. Probably due to better understanding of personality disorders and those people will be put into different categories.

If I were a kid today, I can almost guarantee that a teacher would suggest that I get tested for ADD.  But it wasn't really that known when I was a kid I guess.  I was lucky to have awesome teachers who just handled me a little differently.  When I finished the assignments first, I was given other projects to keep me entertained so I wouldn't just sit under tables and ignore the class (yep, that happened).  I was assigned to a group of other students who tested into the HGT program and we were all taken out of class for enrichment activities for an hour a day.  I still have trouble focusing sometimes, but I've learned to handle it over the years and I function just fine.
