Update on my job interview today-HELP!

I tried to bump my previous thread that asked for help but couldn't so here's an update for anyone who's interested
 
Ok so I just got home from my interview  
 
For the curious, I arrived on time and was really nervous (think they could tell but I mentioned it afterwards anyway and we laughed about it ). They were really nice and seemed to think even though I lack experience that I'm a good candidate for the job. They didn't see my Master's Degree as a problem (some companies have told me it means I'm too over qualified to be a Lab Tech), they saw it as a positive asset to the job. They asked me the dreaded "how much would you expect in salary" at the end of the interview and a tour of the labs and I answered minimum wage for a newly-educated Lab Tech as a starting point. No problem. They asked when could I start and I said "Tomorrow would work for me" I think they liked that and started saying that they should then call the 4 others and cancel their interviews I was the first one of the 5 called in, don't know if that's an advantage Also they asked if they could call my 1 of or maybe even both of my references from my trainee period and 3 month extension and I said that would be fine, I'm sure they're gonna sell me real good
 
They don't want to promise anything but they said they got a really good impression of me and will call tomorrow late afternoon with the decision
 
I'm not counting on anything so as not to get too disappointed if it's a no but I'm glad it went well and that they saw the positives instead of focusing on my lack of experience

Oh good luck! What kind of lab work would you be doing?

Thanks everyone, I'm really hoping I get it too   Trying not to get my hopes up too high though so if they reject me, I won't be too sad about it.

I would be using various chemical and sometimes more biochemical methods and analyze plant and soil samples for inorganic and organic compounds. The department is doing research on plant nutrition, soil fertility and genetic improvement of crop cultivation and quality characteristics.

He was supposed to call me today but I haven't heard from him and it's after 5 PM here Don't know if it's because they've not decided yet or if it means they have hired someone else. The waiting has been killing me today and now I'll have to wait even longer

Sometimes they just get too busy to call, so don't give up yet! I would say give them until almost the end of the day today to see if they get to calling you.

But since it's after 5:00 PM, they've all gone home so they won't call until tomorrow I guess It's just kinda frustrating they didn't call since I've been a nervous wreck all day waiting for their answer   I'm still hoping it's because they didn't have time to decide or are waiting to call (hopefully) my references tomorrow morning before offering the job They've also been a bit late with everything, they wanted the job filled from May 1st and first took people in for interviews yesterday They had me in around 12:30 PM and one other person afterwards, then today had 3 people in, maybe the first one today was to be interviewed at around 12:30 as well? Guess it's hard to tell why they haven't called. Even if I'm not the chosen candidate, normally they call and let you know and give you the opportunity to ask why.
 
I'll see what happens tomorrow but it stinks that I'll have to be a nervous wreck again

It's about 1:20 PM here and still no word   So I don't know if this is a bad sign or they're just taking their time deciding. Don't know if I should try writing to him later if he still hasn't called and ask him when they'll be ready or if it'll just annoy him and ruin any chance I still may have

I would wait another day (if they still had interviews just yesterday, it's standard to give at least a day after for their decision process). If you have heard by tomorrow, I would contact them - not to beg/plead/pester them for an answer - just say you would just like to follow up on your interview of X date.

If you sound panicky when contacting them, it will put them off. You want to seem in control and professional.
