I get to start my pony-themed tattoo tonight! I'm so excited!

A friend of my has got a G4 Rainbow dash tatto since last September.

I'm getting a sleeve of g1 ponies done in the style of g3, because while I love the g1s and collect them, I don't like the way they look as cartoons and I think the g3 design is cuter. I may even toss some g4 art in there and get Spike done in the MLP:FiM style.
Tonight is just the outline for the top half (two ponies), then I'll get the outline for the bottom section and start working on color. Such fun.

I loved ponies when I was 5,and I love them at 35. I've had this planned for a whole now :) ill post some pics tonight when it's getting done

My rule for tattoos is ask yourself, what did you think was cool ten years ago? Do you think it's still cool? If the answer is yes, then it's okay to get a tattoo of it. If not you're going to seriously regret that tattoo.
Pretty sure that after 30 years, you're set.

My rule for tattoos is ask yourself, what did you think was cool ten years ago? Do you think it's still cool? If the answer is yes, then it's okay to get a tattoo of it. If not you're going to seriously regret that tattoo.
Pretty sure that after 30 years, you're set.
Woah! That's a really well done tat! However, i think she should have gotten it on her butt ;) After all..it IS a cutie mark! Lol!

I had a dream a while ago that I got TAF tattoos all over my body like Dancing Butterflies. Would never do that because I think it would be kind of odd on me, (I'm overweight and it would draw the wrong kind of attention.) but it made for a cool dream. :)

Alrighty, session #1 has been completed. It's still under its wrap at the moment and hasn't been cleaned up, so y'all will have to settle for in-progress shots that don't show it all completely inked.

The one in the balloon will eventually be Bow Tie, and the pegasus will be Firefly. I plan on having an unicorn in there as well, and I'm pondering if I could possibly fit a sea pony in there somewhere (perhaps peeking out of some water?). I'll fill in the background with sky and have the castle if I can.

That's the plan, hopefully. I have a tattoo on my wrist already that's about 3"x1", so everything needs to go around it.

I adore ponies but I can't say that I'd want one permanently etched on my body. That's a scary thought. :shocked:

That was pre-cleaning. The images I'd used had symbols already, the artist didn't actually do them, and they washed off when we cleaned it up.

Neither can I! I've already got the next bits forming in my mind, and we actually just came into some cash, which will be helpful (hubby wants to get a Tardis in a couple of weeks). Next bits will be some touchups to some lines, and coloring, and outline of the unicorn. I'm undecided about which uni I'll be getting since white ink doesn't stay in me at all, and I can't figure out who to get!

He deliberately went light on their eyes so that I can get them colored in later on. It'll need a couple of touchups for some lines, but I'll probably hold off and do that at the same time we do the colors.
I just need to figure out what color to do the balloon now :)

Session #2 has been done!
We never seem to remember to get a picture when it's just the stencil. It's always nasty and inky in-progress shots.

I'm not sure who these will be. Not being able to do large chunks of white it a bit limiting. I'm leaning towards Windy for the unicorn, since I can't do Gusty.

Everything all put together - there's going to be more rainbow and clouds, with another pegasus just above my elbow (probably Medley) and a g4 Spike tossed in for good measure. Sadly, doing a castle in the clouds theme, we ended up ditching the idea of a sea pony.

I love the little castle as well. I waffled back and forth between this castle and the original, blocky pink and purple castle I had as a kid, and I felt this one would look better in the clouds. However, it's still going to be pink with purple. The rainbow will probably continue around the earth pony on the cloud and go around my wrist, and the part that's up by the castle will taper up and "bounce" between clouds.

I bought washable markers to color it when it's healed and I get bored, and kinda fitting since I used pages from coloring books for the design itself. I can "test drive" which ponies I want that way.

He did much better linework this time around than with the first session. For some reason I lose ink like mad, so he did things a bit thicker this time around and re-lined a bunch of the first session (almost all of the pegasus got re-lined). I'll be going for at least one more session for lining, and then I can start with colors.

Providing that money works out, I should probably be going back for session #3 in another couple of weeks. It's going to be interesting, since there's a decent swatch of space on one edge of my arm that needs to get "connected". So far, the plan is:
- 1 more pegasus near the balloon
- continue the lower half of the rainbow around my wrist
- add a couple of small clouds in the sky area, where the rainbow can meet up/swirl through
- connect the clouds along the "horizon" by the castle
- add a sun peeking out behind the clouds - I'm probably going to do Princess Celestia's symbol as the sun
- Spike on a cloud

I've been wanting a sleeve for a while now, and only recently had both a plan and the money to do it - husband lost his job at the beginning of the year and ended up getting about 10 weeks worth of unemployment paid out in a single check. Since we were ok without his weekly checks for the most part, we splurged on tattoos, ponies, and Lego.
