Worth restoring UK G1?
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:11:46 AM »
Okay so I bought this lil lot of UK G1s and there was a UK Snowflake - she looks to be in good condition, except from a very short cut mane *cry*

Is it worth finding anyone to re-hair her? Is there anyone in Europe or UK who could do it for me?

Thanks for any help!

Well, a lot of G1 collectors would love her as she is and would not rehair her. I'm not sure how a rehair would affect her value. If you are going to sell her my advice is do not rehair her, but if you want to keep her then rehair if you think you would like her better that way :)

I think its always worth it to restore G1's, even if its just a common pony! Snowflake is quite easy to find, and she's not worth much with cut hair.  I would be more than happy to re-hair her for you, I live in Finland. Just send me an PM if you're interested.  :)

All G1s are worth rehairing in my opinion, I mean if their hair is gone but they're in good/ok condition otherwise. :)  *)

Rehairing is not difficult at all, only frustrating and time-consuming at times. :P You don't even need any specific tools, the rehair tool may be worth investing in if you're planning to do a lot of rehairing, but if it's just one pony the wire or needle+thread method should work just fine. And there are plenty of rehairing tutorials available on the net, for every method.

Anyway, I wish you good luck, it seems you already have someone offering to do the job for you if you'd rather not do it yourself. :)

*) Of course there are ponies that are more valuable in their current condition than rehaired, but that's another story... Snowflake isn't one of them.

She is a lovely pony - thats great you have decided to restore her. I agree she has a surprising low value so by rehairing you are not really affecting her price from that of a Snowflake with chopped hair! Cant wait to see her all done!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
