Title: cleaning mold? what do you do?
Post by: PonySeeker128 on February 04, 2012, 03:40:31 PM
Alright here I am again asking more questions, I did read about this already but had additional questions and want to know what you guys do. I have a g1 with minor mold and cancer spots. I am mainly wondering, I already opened her up and the damage isn't too bad, how I need to clean the spots on the inside and outside without damaging the pony or the hair while still treating the mold. I read oxiclean powder works but will that damage anything?? What do you use?
Thanks in advance for once again helping answer my questions!!

Most people use OxyClean or Bleach. I used highly water deluded bleach one time for a pony with mold, but it did lighten her color up a bit... OxyClean may work better.
Mold can spread between ponies so you want to get rid of it and keep her away from other ponies until you are sure the mold is gone.

Also mold needs moisture to live so you want to make sure to dry it really well after cleaning it. I have even heard that some collectors will put their ponies in a plastic bad with those little silica packets for a little bit to remove extra moister.

I hope that helps out a little.

Oxiclean is awesome but don't use it on princess ponies or ponies with tinsel. You can also use warm water, soap and a toothbrush inside of the pony. But no matter what you do the cancer won't go away. But mold should be no problem to remove.

That won't remove the discoloration on the outside though will it? I have a windy who I'm trying to fix, I seperated her from the others already
