What is your favourite Gen of ponies to collect?

I went for G1 but I have more G3 just because they are less expensive and easier to find.

I'll pick up any pony I see but, I prefer G1.

I collect G1, G3 and G4 ponies. I like to collect the G1 ponies that I like. I don't collect them all cause there are some poses that I don't really find cute. That is the same for G3 ponies to. I like to keep most of mine NIB so that limits when I can buy. They are so over priced right now if NIB. And I also like to buy NIB G4 ponies to.
I have to say there is not one generation that I like more then others.

G1. I love their overall design the best - pastel shades, stumpy little legs, chunky heads, soft welcoming look in their eyes, the tiny smile. And the variety! So many different colours, poses, styles, gimmicks and gadgets! They range from really simple to rather complex, and each and every one of them looks friendly and welcoming, no matter what condition they're in (well, maybe I would make an exception for BBEs...). I just adore my little collection and I know I would trade out my 200-odd G4s in favour of keeping my 20-odd G1s any day.

That being said, I'm on a big G1 kick right now since I started collecting them kind of recently (6 months or so ago) and I really want to expand my little herd.  Right now I have 9 G1 ponies, and I adore them.  So much variety!
G3 is fabulous, too, though, since that is what I grew up with and I get major nostalgia whenever I find one!  I normally get my G3 girls at the thrift store, but my dad got me some on ebay for Christmas.  I  my G3 herd!!  I even like G3.5, but not as much as regular G3.
G4 is really fun for me, too.  I really love how the ponies have kind of an anime-esque look, because I really like anime a lot.  It is also fun to buy them in stores, and I like the show a whole lot.
The only Gen I don't have right now is G2, but I think they are gorgeous and Silver Swirl is a major grail pony for me.  I hope to have some G2s really soon!

Honestly, I think all the gens are charming, but G3s are a personal favorite of mine.  The first time I held one at a second-hand store, I just melted.  They just really clicked with me.  On the other hand G1s are just classic and have an air of purity to them.  I would probably be more into G1 collecting if more were available near me...

I grew up with G1 so G1 for me but I do collect G4 as well but G1 is my ultimate favorite so many different designs!!!

I collect mostly G3s so I put that, they are (as well as G1) my favorite gen.  G3s just are easier to find in good condition.  The G1s I do have are my childhood ponies, except for a few I bought as an adult.  The poor things had it rough tho   I don't actively look for G1s but I'd never turn down a boy pony   I want more!  Haha I only have two.

While I grew up with G3s and love them a lot, I have nearly all of the ones I want and am nearing the end of my want list so it's starting to come to a close for me. So my favourite to collect is G1. They're all older than I am and I had to hunt down and pay collector's price for almost every singe one. And restore most of them. So while my childhood G3s mean the world to me, I'm darned proud of my G1 collection and they're my favourite to collect because I have to work for them!

I picked G1 as that is the Gen I am most focused on. And that's also because I am completing sets that were started as a child and brought me the most memories and smiles. I also have some from all the other Gens, but my G2's are "complete" because I only wanted the the First year ones. I have G3's but mostly Dollar Store Exclusives, and I collect G4 because I liked them. I don't have a lot and I do like how their small size allows for more room.

I love G1 and G3 equally but I voted for G3 because I figured G1 would get the most votes and I wanted to even things out a little!

G2 is my love. I love their designs and artwork, their body shapes are so pretty. I love the variety of colours and symbols. I grew up with the G2 computer game and it stuck with me ever since so I knew I had to collect them again.

They're also smaller than G1 and there's less overall so they take up less space on my very limited shelving
