Title: What Would Child You Think Of Your Current Collection?
Post by: Leave a Whisper on April 17, 2017, 08:06:54 PM
Little Kid me would be happy that I got back some of the ponies my mom gave away, she'd also be delighted by some of my grails she didn't know existed, fall in love with my G3s, and be thrilled that I got some of my childhood wants. Then she'd beg to play with them.

I think I would be totally overwhelmed and in love and in awe walking into my room. Somewhat like my nieces and even my nephews are now. They beg to go into the pony room. Everything (but the merch I have too much of) is perfectly placed, all the ponies hair perfectly styled. But because it's something I really loved most of any toys, for little me in particular, it'd be overwhelming.

this but 10 times more ecstatic :P i often think what the child me would do if she saw my collection. i would be like.............. OMG OMG OMG   :newpony:
I have all the ponies little me wanted so darn badly and never got either because my parents did not want to spend the money or was too late and not in the shops any more, there always seem to be a fast turn-around where i was eg. i wanted one of the first baby ponies and by the time i got one they only sold bbe's at that time.  and i saw advertisements for the first 6 CP but they were long gone too before my first one which was glory.
anyhoo little mewould dance around the room with excitement  ^.^

:choc: :broc: :cuke: :carrot: :bacon: :cheese: :chili: :taco:

I'd probably wonder where exactly i went off the deep end.

Not the hoarding or stuffed animals parts, those were already ingrained, its just they are neither computers nor tools but...they are kinda similar to polystyrene models so im sure id say ok whatever where do we get even more.

Oh id probably also be like, what are these weird big-headed ones supposed to be.

Probably think that this older her was way more into ponies than her. And then leave, wondering what went horribly wrong for the science and horse obsessed child to become a science, video game, cartoon and rainbow horse obsessed human.

Child me would cry that I finally got Mimic after all that time searching and wanting but scratch their head at the nirvanas.

Child me(I'm assuming 12 y.o. me, haha) would be *so* upset about how badly all the baits I've picked up at flea markets have been treated; I didn't take super good care of my ponies, but still!  Markers and scissors weren't supposed to be used like that, a trim to get rid of fuzz was one thing... (except for the boys, they got haircuts)
Also, 12 y.o. me would be very confused by the playsets, I think; I never really played with any as a kid, I had sandbox "caves" and "canyons" for pony homes(the dirt is firm enough to hold shapes easily here, once you get below the sandy layer)

Childhood me would be be excited that I now have the Nursery and Dream Castle (even if it is missing parts).  But she would be sad that there isn't room enough to have them out where they can be played with regularly.  She would be happy that we finally got boys but she would be wondering why we have two of Slugger and two of Daddy Celebration and two of Lucky but no Tex. (The answer is because I haven't spent the time to find him yet.) She would definitely want to bring out all the ponies and have a Pony Spa party.

And she would be intrigued by the idea of customizing...

Child me wouldn't believe I grew up to have ponies because they're not plush cats. But also a bit gleeful and triumphant that I can tell my step sister she can't play with them so there :P just like she used to do to me. Basically I win lol.

Child me would be in pony heaven. I would be dancing for joy at all the baby ponies, especially the UK and Euro babies like Gusty, Heart Throb and Cherries Jubilee since those were some of my favorite adults and I liked having matching babies. I would love having the boy ponies since I only had 1 baby boy pony in my entire childhood collection. I'd be head over heels for all the playsets but sad that my mom threw out my Dream Castle and I still haven't found a replacement. Yes, my Dream Castle actually went in the garbage and not to a thrift store.

All in all child me would be very happy and want to play. Child me would want to have spa days and style everyone's hair and put everyone into families and have great adventures.

Child me would be overwhelmed by pony! I'd never be able to drag that many ponies to my neighbour's house, no matter how big the suitcase!
Title: Re: What Would Child You Think Of Your Current Collection?

I would see all of my ponies and immediately play with them wondering where I got them and also be delighted at the fact I had more than fifteen G1's when she thought she would never get any.

I just don't think I would ever leave my room again. I would be way too busy playing with my ponies... combing their hair, wrangling the herd, serving icecream at Scoops's Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe and baking in the pony kitchen. My childhood herd would be so excited to meet all their new friends and would throw a pony party and Nightglider would still probably be the Queen.

Little me would just ruin them like I ruined my G3s. Little me was a cruel brat.

Young me would be over the moon over Princess Tiffany and baby Princess Sparkle (but bummed I don't have her carriage). Younger me would also be squealing over the fact I have baby Applejack and Bowtie; I know adult me did when I first found out they existed!!

Child me would be surprised, considering ponies weren't at all my favorite toys to play with.

Disappointed my childhood collection didn't fully make it. But that wouldn't be a surprise for how many times my dad saved them from the trash and warned me.

But that's ok since it was mostly my childhood best friends collection that was at the heart of it all. (she had well over 100 of them lol)

I'd also be impressed with creamsicle. Didn't know she existed back then and totally was in love with giraffes.

I just don't think I would ever leave my room again.

This was exactly what I thought.

Also I would be super excited that Medley, Glory, Firefly etc actually were real and I could hold them and groom them and play with them like I always wanted to as a child (my mother actually looked reeeally hard for Glory when I was little because I wanted her so much, but she never found her, because she wasn't sold here :()

I would be happy that my childhood ponies were still with me after all this time. (That thanks to Mum saying 'keep them a while and think about it, don't get rid of them' and she was right).

Childhood me would also probably then alert childhood sister, and a whole lot more sunshine ponies than just our childhood two would go hanging out of the window on shoelace bungee jump ropes...

Child me would be absolutely horrified and confused. I hated super girly things like dolls and ponies, and the pink aisle was scary. I was a tomboy with two elder brothers that I played video games with, I was constantly mistaken for a boy because of my short hair but always shouted I was a girl despite how much I disliked girly toys... plush toy dogs were my thing.

It wasn't until I was 18 and FIM came out that I fully embraced my ideology that I can like whatever I want and who cares what other people think. Before then I was only vaguely aware of MLP, and only G3s... I had no idea what I was missing out on lol. ^.^

Same tulips!! I was more "girly" than my tomboy best friend, but ponies were a step too far XD I was I stuffed animal kid. I remember one birthday my mom asked if I wanted any ponies and we agreed I didn't really like those. Now how I wish she did get me some!!

I think younger me would be shocked. I was a pretty androgynous child, more into roleplaying and imagination than dolls... I was kind of raised to not like girly or childish stuff, because my parents didn't like it, so I always "hated" ponies and stuff as a kid. :( But at the same time, I think she would be relieved to see that I'm able to enjoy "girly" stuff and would want to play with them. Ultimately I feel like she'd be alarmed by some of the prices I pay for my collectibles though!

Child me would be so disappointed! Pink was not only my least favorite colour, but probably my least favorite thing in the universe :P Horses were my least favorite animal, specifically because that's what the other girls liked, and unicorns? EWW! I always liked playing with toys, but they had to be cool toys with moving parts and whatnot. None of that cute or beautiful nonsense... With that said, I would probably be somewhat excited about having this many toys

Well I still have all of my childhood Ponies somewhere which she would probably be happy about though entirely expecting it (I've never liked to throw things out) and now I have nearly all the ones released here as well as several from Europe. I remember wanting my babysitter's childhood Ponies too, so I'd probably be glad I have some like those since the only G1 Pony I found as a child was Baby Sweetstuff, I would definitely be glad that I could easily watch the original T.V. show too.

The current series I'd probably enjoy as well along with the current toys (yes, they're small, but I've always loved small things, plus my hands have always been a bit small too), and believe it or not I'd actually understand keeping some of them in boxes; the first toy I decided to keep in it's box was a Barbie doll my grandparents brought back from Europe for me when I was about 8, she's still in her box and I saw her just the other day

When my nephew was very young, his reaction was to look around and go, "Too much, Aunt Shan."

Letting my niece into the room is like giving her an immediate sugar high.

I imagine my child self would be somewhere in the middle.

Childhood me would look at the ponies, shrug, and ask where the Barbies and Ninja Turtles are. She would be in for a devastating shock since I don't collect either of those. She'd probably try to get ahold of my Monster High dolls, making me glad they're up high. I was very prone to losing doll clothes as a kid.

Same here with the doll clothes. For my sisters and I, it was mainly shoes. So most of our dolls were nicely dressed people with no shoes, or mismatched shoes.

No really, Id be overwhelmed and would never ever willingly leave that room where the ponies are!! (maybe though for a bathroom break lol). I have so many ponies now that I realllllllly wanted as a kid, so Id invite my childhood friend and play endlessly <3 I wont unpack any G1 though because I have them all loose, ready to play :P

My childhood self would be happy I have them again. I think my childhood self love to play with all my ponies and probably wonder about the weird other country ponies.  My teenage self would say I thought we got rid of those. I probably get in a fight with my teenage self. They may think different if they knew how much money I spent on all of them. ><:

Tiny Storybelle would be half estactic with all of the beautiful G3s I have now and half ready to kick me. 'You mean, you got rid of all our G1s at 9 only to collect ponies again at 18? You muppet.'

She'd give me such a bitch face and then I could distract her with Star Catcher.

Child me would likely look around, be very confused and then make a b-line for my husband's SH Figuarts collection because it's mostly Super Sentai/Kamen Rider (so, to child me this means POWER RANGERSSSSSS).

Because this was the child that popped off Barbie doll heads off on a fence....

Child me would be like "Um... What? My Little Pony? What is that?" I likely wouldn't reject them, but just be a bit confused, as the first exposure to MLP I can remember was actually when I was a teenager. Now, if my teenage self were to see that I grew up to collect MLPs she would be super shocked. Not because of any negative perceptions, but just because I wasn't in the least bit into collecting toys or anything like that. I'd wonder what in the world sparked my interest in the franchise and would probably assume it somehow had something to do with the moderator of another forum I was a part of who had a G3 MLP as her username.

Nevertheless, I would have so much more important things to tell my childhood self.

Child me would probably find Whizzer and explain to her how she is still my prettiest girl....I was always concerned about my toys getting jealous of one another.  Whizzer was truly my favorite though.

Honestly, I would just love it.  I've managed to obtain every childhood pony and playset I ever had as a kid.  They brought me so much joy.

As a kid?
I would have thought it was stupid and gross and would have definitely not been interested in them.

I was a major tomboy as a kid. I only had toys with teeth really. Had brothers and liked to play in dirt and would never wear pink.
Age 15 I emerged from my tomboy phase and simultaneously discovered MLP, the cutest and most girly thing imaginable.

I just turned 30 this year, so 15 years of obsession from my teenage years and up. :p

Kid me would be absolutely horrified! I liked realistic horse toys (like Breyers and similar knockoffs) but I never liked (or even knew about?) MLP. All the dolls and pastels and pink would just make it even worse. Kid me would be disgusted if she found out my favorite pony is Sudnance - too girly and pink.

I'd probably be forgiven once Kid me found my American Girl stuff though.

Little me would wonder where the heck I went "wrong" for sure. I hated "girl" toys, pink, brushables, and especially horses/ponies in general(My distant relative used to REALLY try to force horse toys and glittery rainbow things on me, I think that had something to do with it.)

Depending on how young we're talking, child me would probably say that I needed to ditch MLP and dolls immediately to acquire more Digimon stuff and video games instead(Of course, not understanding that I can have all those things in my adult life at once.)

Childhood me would be totally overwhelmed. My ponies are stored in cardboard boxes, in single bags with desiccant bags tossed into each of them. One cardboard box contains up to 30 ponies I guess. Childhood me would be overwhelmed by unpacking just a single one of these boxes at once, but there are almost 30 of them. No way...  :dizzy: :ack:
