I believe this for the time being relates to eBay members in the UK only. It does not pertain to state to state transactions with in the US.

It is already implemented in the UK (as far as I know). It is coming to USA Paypal in November.

Trader & Shipping Support / New Paypal Rule - 180 Days to Open Claim
« on: October 03, 2014, 07:47:50 PM »
Starting November 18 2014 Paypal will be increasing their 45 day window to open a claim to 180 days. This is 6 months.

I wanted to make sure all the sellers here on this forum were aware of this new change. I searched around and haven't seen it mentioned as of yet. (If I missed it sorry)

I hope it's alright if I link to the Ebay thread where I first saw it: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/PayPal-Dispute-Filing-Window-Increasing-To-180-Days/td-p/22744865

This is longer than any credit card I'm aware of. I don't understand how this could possibly be possible or how anyone is supposed to have any records of something that happened half a year ago.

I can only hope that at some point, other online payment options on Ebay start coming around. This has gotten out of hand.

This news is sudden to me and seems to be the opposite of the constant intermingling of Paypal and Ebay while them pretending one doesn't have to do with the other.

I'm not sure what to think of this. I can only hope this opens up Ebay to more payment options and competition from other online companies.

I agree because of the unique situation where you didn't know how to ship it and didn't give your address. The first person should be the one you follow through with if s/he still wants it.

Whadda, who, what, WHAT?! Ok, this here might be the very reason i will go and close my newly made ebay account! i mean, this whole situation, but to get this answer from their representative?!?! YOU who got ripped off, they admitted it and did nothing, with not even a "sorry"?! You who have been spending time figuring out people who are breaking THEIR rules?! YOU who have been tirelessly reporting this blatant fraud for them to do nothing! I am speechless, wow!
Seriously, the fact that they have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING this whole time, is disgusting. bye, bye ebay!

Actually, Ebay is very good at protecting buyers. The fact that this seller is flaky and has multiple IDs is a separate issue from the overcharging on shipping.

Ebay will never partially refund a buyer for overcharging on shipping. No one is getting trapped into buying anything. If you see an auction and the shipping is $20 for standard domestic shipping you should really just avoid it. Buying it and then asking for the difference is not fair for anyone.

Although I don't agree with large handling fees, I do agree with normal ones. And what is normal is all relative. But it's important to remember to just avoid any prices you don't like. The prices are all clearly listed so it's not like you will get tricked into buying anything.

It is breaking Ebay's rules to buy the item and then open a case for overcharging on shipping. That is not what cases are for on Ebay and Paypal. Also, you can report buyers who demand any kind of partial payment back.

So to put it in perspective, Ebay probably saw the buyer doing just this and it tainted anything else she had to complain about. That is most likely why they took off the negative feedback and didn't initially listen to what she had to say.

But in any case, the shill bidding usually gets caught eventually. There was a person shill bidding on Furbies not too long ago to try and make them look more valuable than they are (they are worth a little but not as much as they were trying to make it seem). So with everyone reporting this person and her obvious shill bidding she will most likely get banned very soon. Just because it hasn't happened overnight doesn't mean that it won't happen.

As much as I don't like Ebay, they actually are very good to buyers.

So are we positive this is even the same person?

Hey guys, I bought it! Not sure exactly when I'll start playing it but I'll definitely give it a shot. I'm excited about what people had to say about the battle system. Although, I found FFXIII battle system boring so I hope it's better than that one.

Does anyone have any photos on their computer that Brooke took? If so, we an compare them.

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, but I thought Brooke took photos on a kitchen counter? Or am I confusing her with another person on the bad trader list?

In any case, this ponyknott ID has existed since 2005. Also, it says she is located in Milton Florida. Does this add up with what is known about Kutik.

Edit to add:

Also, according to her feedback, she has been selling ponies since 2008 and has positive feedback for it. Actually, she has no negatives or neutrals. Maybe it's not her?

I've never found bed bugs on any plush toys but I have found plenty of fleas.

Really you've seen fleas on plush toys? Eeewww...

The problem with insurance, in france when you add it, in case of loss, our post office ask an invoice to proove the value of the item. As ponies are used toy we cannot show the value and accordingly the post office doesn't refund... maybe it's the same in other countries ?

I don't know anything about what's going on here but I'd thought I'd tell you how insurance works.

The fact that you paid $400 for the item, and she shipped it to you, is proof enough that the item is worth $400. To show proof of the value, you would show the mail people the Paypal invoice.

However, let's say you shipped a $400 vintage pony to a family member as a gift for their birthday. It would be harder to prove since the receiver didn't pay for the item. As you said, vintage ponies are in a realm that people wouldn't understand their value. I'm not sure how proving that would work.

Now I'm in the USA, but for here, that is how insurances for ALL the delivery companies work (FedEx, UPS, USPS). You just show that the receiver paid so-and-so for the item and that is what you are owed. Of course, you have to insure it for that much to begin with.

I would assume it's not different in France or Spain.

I asked hubby.... and he's useless :P he said he hasn't played much of XII. He says the battle system is quite different though. From what he knows of the skill system, it's like a combo of X and IX in terms of skill trees and learning skills from items (he thinks).

Haha, is he all vague and lacking in descriptive words like mine?

Always ship with tracking. I wouldn't ship without tracking until you get the hang of selling. Obviously, you should always ship with tracking, but once you've had a few transactions you will have a better idea on which buyers are on the level.

The general rule is that as long as you have tracking and have insurance you will never ever be out of any money.

Does anyone know if USPS refunds the price you paid for shipping if you file an insurance claim?

Eviecorn - I love VII too, but I played it like 12 years ago! So I think it's time to give it another go. I remember a lot of the story but forgot a lot as well so it will be fun.

Midnight - The graphics do look good. I have to say, I do love those shiny colorful games. I'm a little apprehensive about the rest though. Characters and the plot are the main thing for me when it comes to FF games. It can be hard to care about what happens when you can't know enough about the characters. For FFX, I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened.

I'm so happy you are getting your shipping back.

While the seller should have been more apologetic to begin with, I think sometimes people need to have the mistake sink in. After some time passed she probably realized that she really did make a mistake and felt better about fully reimbursing you.
