Title: Im starting to get the feeling there are delays in post from US/Canada to UK?
Post by: mylittleponylover92 on April 21, 2013, 11:09:25 AM
Hey everyone,

Basically, from what Im seeing and hearing...there are delays with post being sent from Canada and the US?

I have bought ponies from 2 members here from Canada as well as one from the USA all in the beginning to middle of March, as its nearly May Im starting to think they are taking a while!

I had a trade arrive not too long a go from the US only took about 2 weeks and a bit....starting to think that was fast in comparison

Although I did have 1 thing arrive the one and only time ive been away on holiday....was waiting for me for over 18 days....now been sent back to sender...except I have no idea which one or where!
So that is another thing lol

Contacted members and I'll have to wait and see what turns up and track how long.

I guess Im just getting impatient but I know its not the sellers fault <3
I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my mail!

Anyone know for sure if there is delays or something?
Thank you :)

I bought some accessories from an arena member from the UK and it been 30 days and still haven't received it. Getting a little nervous since the 45 day limit is approaching. I've purchased from them in the past so wonder if it's just held up somewhere?

I sent my best friend a valentine's card and it got to her after about 2 1/2 weeks. However I recently sent a box and I've had no word of its arrival, and that was sent the week before Easter. So yeah, probably shipping hold-ups.

Hmm it is quite possible! But Im actually talking about post going the opposite way, i.e. to the UK lol! But if you're having problems too then it may be a weird delay or something!

I think there are delays from some parts of those countires but as usual shipping times are hit n miss. I've recently sent a few parcels to the US and they've got there within a couple of weeks (less than one week one item!)  , I've also received some of my parcels from the US/Canada in 2 -3 weeks.... but another item was sent over a month ago from the US and it still isnt here .  The Easter holiday didnt help - there are always delays around the holidays.
Do keep an eye on your 45 day deadline, but its very likely that your parcels will still show up soon

I think there are definite issues with Canada to UK shipping. I purchased some ponies from a Canadian Arena member and they were shipped March 03 and still have not been delivered. This was via surface mail so we knew it would take a while, up to 6 weeks, however its no looking good now its over 6 weeks.  Luckily the lady I bought them off is a total gem and she is so great about it.  ^.^   In hindsight I probably shouldn't have cheaped out and gone for the less expensive shipping option... :(

Yeah Im the same as you really mine were 8th and 14th pretty much and they havent come yet. One member said surface can take up to 3 months to arrive! I didnt get an option with the postage since I ordered a lot and this was the most cost effective! The other one I have no idea what method it has been sent, I wish people told you these things without me having to chase everyone but there you go!

I completely understand where you're coming from! Let me know on here when yours does arrive!  :satisfied:

Hey hun, I know I'm one of the packages you're waiting on, I just want to let you know I will PM you when I get a chance to check everything out... But I also wanted to add that I have had both instances... I've had packages come to me from Germany and Ireland that have arrived in RECORD time. Like I can't even fathom how they got to me or to the other person so quickly...

BUT - I also have done some other transactions from Germany, Ireland, UK and even Canada - where I in the US was waiting close to 2 full weeks... that doesn't seem long when you're already over 30 days... I understand, but it's odd... sometimes I have issues with shipping to Australia that takes close to 30 days as well...
(Though, my packaging, personally, if you have gotten something from me, tends to stand out in a pile of packages, so, I hope that helps them not get lost??!?!)

*hug* I hope they arrive soon...

Question.... for all the people waiting on packages being shipped via CanadaPost... how many of them have tracking on them?  I usually find all my packages make it to their destinations within 2 weeks.

You'll probably hear me scream in delight when it arrives

Lovesbabysquirmy, the costs of tracking the package was quoted as being about $45 which for 2 baby ponies costing 1/2 that amount seemed a bit excessive!

Yeah I can see how tracked packages would move a little faster, that way the people in charge can tell when a package sits in some depot for a week not doing anything  :P !!

That sounds about right for a package that's about 16 x 23 cm...  Actually, if it was going to the UK with tracking and insurance up to $100, $45 is a great price!  Shipping prices have been steadily increasing for EVERYONE since the beginning of the year.  Canada Post is actually less expensive than Royal Mail's new pricing...

How many times have I shared with this forum about why I love Canada Post?  So I had an international swap box to the UK  - it was bigger than a shoebox, maybe a boot box?  I mailed it on a Monday... the Royal Mail delivered it the following Monday.  Less than a WEEK, over an OCEAN and through customs, for only $80!  WOW!  I couldn't fly there myself for that price!  Without fail, anything I mail with tracking and quick service gets there far before it's expected.  :)

Aw Im sorry Sunshine Pony, dont worry Im not mad at you or anything like that! I just worry and get really impatient, you were the last member I bought from so Im not as worried about yours as the other 2 from Canada! Btw was it sent recorded or normal surface? Surface explains why it will be taking the time I guess!

Dont worry! I'll let you know when it turns up!  :) Thank you, I'd appreciate the PM when you've had time to check things out!  ^.^

Question.... for all the people waiting on packages being shipped via CanadaPost... how many of them have tracking on them?  I usually find all my packages make it to their destinations within 2 weeks.

Erm I know one of them is definitely surface, which is why the seller said up to 3 months!! :( But I understand why that one was sent surface since it was really heavy!
The other Canadian package I have no idea....its really difficult getting answers out of people! But I have a feeling that isn't tracked either. I haven't had much luck then :P

Haha okay, I wont be far behind when they arrive for me I tell yah!

Yeah I think that's why people havent sent things recorded. It seems to cost way too much!  :(
However, I have a private swap atm and Im definitely sending it recorded, I dont care of the costs....I just dont want it getting lost and taking so long to arrive! Also, I think its cheaper from my end to send things to the US sometimes! So I dont mind  :satisfied:

WOW Royal Mail can be great sometimes! I get things domestic sometimes within 2 days. International....even from Europe...about 2 weeks every time and thats sent recorded from Germany! My last Royal Mail to the US was just over 2 weeks...mine took a few days longer to arrive USPS.

I dont rate RM that much though :( the prices just keep going up up and away! But they do have their moments of great service for some people!

I think something is amiss somewhere. Two weeks ago I posted two packages - One to the US, one to the Netherlands. The US one arrived on Saturday and still no sign of the Netherlands one, despite it being a heck of a lot closer! Thankfully (or not?) the recipient is a close friend and thus understanding but I just wonder what's happened =/ I sent her something the week before Christmas and it arrived in four days!

I've shipped something from the USA to the UK back on the 9th, and I don't think it has arrived yet either. Yet, I sent something to Spain on the same day, and it arrived a couple days ago :( Hopefully the package turns up soon.

Woah, thats amazing! Here's me thinking with all the economic crisis etc Spain has been in - it may of delayed things. Sigh....its probably customs or something our end....who knows?

Yes thank GODNESS! Ive been so so so busy to update here though! But both the sellers know they have arrived and Ive left them feedback but they were both OVER 45 days! I think one was May 1st and the other was a couple of days behind it!
Both were sent surface so Im not that surprised!

However, Im STILL waiting on a US package!! It was sent March 19th! Its well over like 50 days now! Im actually pretty annoyed...I paid for first class what a joke! Im actually considering saying something....should I?  :lookround:  I dont want to be seen as picky its just both the canadian packages were sent surface and arrived sooner, yes they were shipped earlier but one was only by 4 days earlier! So Im worried..anyone think I should contact the seller again?

Also....Im waiting on a package from Germany...that was sent 14/4 and has yet to make an appearance. Although the seller kindly notfied me that theres been postal strikes in Germany! But goodness knows how long that will be!  >_<

Im having the worst luck with international parcels...for the moment its put me off.
Im going to wait until they arrive to make any new purchases!
What is going on with international post these days?   :P

I hope yours makes it Maniah!  :satisfied:

Unfortunately "First Class" Seems to be American for "We'll see what happens..." It is the cheapest shipping option for a reason. :(

Fingers crossed for your other packages! And mine too!

Never choose first class.... it takes months...  if you're lucky.  Only things that arrive in a timely fashion for me are rather small packages.

This is really worrying, I'm waiting on a LOT of ponies from everywhere at the moment (Netherlands, USA X2, Singapore) but they've only just been posted so I'm not fretting, if anything, they'll arrive slap bang in the middle of exams, so I'll have something to cheer me up! Just hoping and praying they don't go missing! If they're really late, I really don't mind, it's just the turning up I'm worried about since I haven't traded properly in over a month!

I hope everyone gets their ponies soon, hopefully it won't be too much of a wait, hold in their gang! :)  :grouphug:

Oh...I see
Thats crazy! In the UK first class is the most expensive option just under recorded (tracked) airsure and international signed for!
Whats the point of first class if it isnt faster then second? Ah no logic!

I didnt really get a choice on the postage method....but now wished the seller had sent it surface or something else!

I may have to contact her...its sad cos she's offering me some really nice ponies that would complete my sets and I just cant say yes until this other one arrives :(

Thank you though!  :satisfied:

Thats good you got a refund! How long were you waiting for it to arrive before you contacted the seller about refund? Since Im questioning whether mine will turn up and may have to do the same!
I really wanted the ponies too - Ive been waiting for a proper G1 Minty (I just have a Macau in not very good condition) for too long

Never choose first class.... it takes months...  if you're lucky.  Only things that arrive in a timely fashion for me are rather small packages.

Oh gosh. Thats actually terrible!
At least now I know and any sellers I buy from the US again I'll have to say no first class postage and explain why!!

See, We don't have any other form of postage ranked as a class. When it comes to shipping overseas, In order of Best to Worst we have:

Expedited
Priority
First Class

And Priority is WAY more expensive than first class. Which is why people choose it.

A 1lb package from the USA to Australia, for example, has the following shipping prices:

Express: $54.35
Priority: $39.95
First Class: $16.75

So when the contents are on the cheap side, people often balk at adding $55 to the price of their $10 toy. :( And Express is the only option that provides tracking and insurance starts with Priority..

Oh my.

Well at least I understand now!

But I can see why maybe its taking so long...

Here's me thinking that Royal Mail is expensive!

You can send like a small parcel at up to 100gs for £3.50 normal airmail!

Airsure which is tracked and suposed to be faster than normal airmail is like starting from £8.00 to the USA (since its outside europe) I sent a package as a trade to the US with this and it arrved in 2 weeks or something like that! The tracking on RM wasnt brilliant but I logged into USPS when it had arrived in the US and then it had loads of updates!

International signed for is a airmail signature on delivery and is tracked until it leaves the Uk and is from £7.50 to the US

Clearly, from your end...its ridiculously expensive :( and on top of that things seem to take forever!

Makes me worry as I have a US swap and I wonder who's will arrive and what method she'll send it! Either way, she'll end up spending more than me for a very slow service. Its actually I real shame :( must be such a pain for US members!

Thanks for clearing that up for me Maniah! Sorry I didnt understand how it works over there

I'm sorry to hear that your Pony didnt show up Rhubarb :(   My pony from March never arrived either.  TBH the pony was sent as a gift and I just paid shipping... so I'll prolly just let it go this time, but I'll let the sender know it still hasnt showed up.
I have had some items shipped first class from the US more recently though - in the last couple weeks - and the ponies have arrived already with no problem. International shipping *sigh*

I am waiting on a pony from Europe, I paid for express shipping (allegedly 2-5 business days) and it's been in transit for well over a week now, but I shall be patient and keep my fingers crossed...

Yes, I'm the receiver of bbassel's parcel, and no news yet. I'm also waiting on a US parcel and lots of UK ones. *sigh* Hope everyone turns up safely soon.

Argh  What is going on with the state of the mail these days? It seems we are paying more and more money for a crappier service

Wow it seems that not only are things delayed, more parcels are going missing these days :/

I am waiting on a pony from Europe, I paid for express shipping (allegedly 2-5 business days) and it's been in transit for well over a week now, but I shall be patient and keep my fingers crossed...

Aw Im sorry to hear that Prixton! I am similar...Im still waiting on a Germany parcel that was shipped recorded and was sent April 14th! As well as this damn US package!!  >_<

I really hope yours arrives!  :satisfied:

I'm sorry to hear that your Pony didnt show up Rhubarb :(   My pony from March never arrived either.  TBH the pony was sent as a gift and I just paid shipping... so I'll prolly just let it go this time, but I'll let the sender know it still hasnt showed up.
I have had some items shipped first class from the US more recently though - in the last couple weeks - and the ponies have arrived already with no problem. International shipping *sigh*

Aw wow! I reallyy must be unlucky! Although my US parcel from my trade arrived in like 2 weeks once! But since then no luck!

I totally agree with you Rhurbarbpie! But I seem to have quite good fortune with UK post so in terms of domestic services I dont have any complaints with that at the moment! Thankfully!  ^.^
