Title: Tinsel grrrr
Post by: BerryMouse on June 27, 2018, 10:32:41 PM
Hiya everyone =)

I do Customs for ages now but just once or twice with tinsel.
So I need a tinsel expert here =)

I'm working on a Rapunzel at the moment and I just bought straight pearl tinsel that can be curled.

So I've rehaired with nylon hair, then added the tinsel.
I used hot water and then curled the hair+tinsel around some straws and let it sit for a few days (around a week)
I've removed the straws yesterday and the nylon hair was curled pretty well but not the tinsel =(

I wanted to freak out because the tinsel are going to ruin my project.
Is there any chance to curl the tinsel instead of using hot water?
What about a hairdryer?
I'm afraid that it will melt.

Thanks a ton for helpful hints.

Boil the hair with the curlers in.  :)

Yes, I would boil it while the curlers are in. If you would like to try the hair dryer, test it on some spare tinsel, and you'll see what effect you might get. Let us know how it turns out. :)

Cuz I was not able to boild the pony I've used boiling water and soaked the hair/tinsel with the curlers inside.
Then I'd let it dry and did it again.
It worked not 100% well but the tinsel stay curly enough =)

Thanks a lot!
