New Resources?
(1/1)
BlackCurtains:
I cleaned up the sticky links, some sites were gone or moved.
Does anyone have any newer resources they know of or use? A lot of the tutorial links are so old, with old info, like using Mod Podge as a sealer. I mean there is an Angelfire site up there
I was thinking of adding a where to baits section and linking the HQG1C blanks and I discovered someone on Facebook making amazing 3D printed pony blanks.
What else could be added? New techniques? Like what? Gimme some ideas! :P
I'm still planning on making a new wing tutorial. I also picked up some new sculpting materials I still need to try out.
Griffin:
Good idea to update the collection of links!
I don't see https://mylittlecustom.com/ among the hair suppliers, they're UK based :) They're not new, just missing from the previous list for some reason.
I'm sure something like Etsy would be a treasure trove for us, like there are probably ways to use downloadable items and whatnot in customising (fairy wings come to mind), but I have not explored these techniques and don't have any specific stores to recommend. The hair suppliers selling on Etsy are probably listed already.
I'm not sure if anyone makes pony customising videos? I know there are a lot of doll repaint videos out there, I was hooked at some point but then never really got round to customising dolls myself. :P Maybe some day! I find the videos really inspiring, though, and many of the techniques could be applied to ponies as well so maybe some of these could be linked in the tutorials list. I just wish there were more customisers using other techiques than MSC + watercolour pencils, which seem to be the trending combo.
BlackCurtains:
Oh yeah! I'll add MLC to the list.
I'm on Etsy all the time. I'll look up things that could be used for ponies. Great idea!
I was thinking of searching for videos too.
Thanks :)

Good idea BC!
For YouTube:
I think a lot of the popular custom pony videos on youtube are from the g4 era of customizers using nail polish for their FBRs, and even if the finished results look real nice, I would be hesitant to linking tutorials etc that uses that medium.
but we have RetroGeek Crafts doing restoration work (alt rehairs sometimes) and some customs - I haven't looked though, but with the restoration work in mind, I doubt they use nail polish.
I do have a craft channel, and have been thinking about dedicating some videos to Pony at some point. I haven't yet though. If you want, when and if I have a playlist for that, I can link it :)
BlackCurtains:
Yes, Shai, I've noticed that too about G4 customizers. I wouldn't link anything that uses questionable materials, or down right wrong materials, don't worry :)
I will check out out RetroGeek.
Yes, that would be lovely! :)
