Off Topic / Re: What was the last film you watched? :)
« on: February 18, 2012, 05:02:35 AM »
True Grit (2010). Took me forever to see this one, and I wish I had watched it sooner. Loved it, and I normally detest westerns.

I really loved it too...until
Spoiler
the poor black horse was ridden to death and shot  I know he did it to
save the girl life but it still upsets me, especially when he stabs the poor thing  Aside from how inhumane that is, combined with the poor animal was suffering as it is running so hard for so long with 2 people on it's back, it probably resulted in the poor horse not living for as long as he could have   The horse would of died anyway but still very upsetting and cruel to stab him

I think the last movie we saw was "One Day" (2011), it was pretty good :) Actually tonight me and my husband are going to see "War Horse" (2011) which is my choice and in a couple of weeks "The Artist"(2011) which is his choice :)

I thought it was a baseball bat XD
I didnt have a clue what it was!!!
I was confused too then started thinking it was a FiM lightsaber or something  Then I noticed the writing at the bottom of the package  :throw:
Very nice find :frolic:

Congrats on the new whale :cheer:
I love the Schleich animals, have some of the horses and mythical animals (pegasus, dragons ect) but also have some whales :accomplished: I also have that Grey Whale, the Humpback Whale and my favorite the Sperm Whale (also have the calves for all three :) ).

Pony Corral / Re: I soo want a Big Mack toy....
« on: February 13, 2012, 08:29:46 AM »
I would love a Big Mac pony toy too, then he and my Fluttershy can be together (I'm a total FlutterMac fan) :lovey:
I was also thinking it'd be kinda cute to also have Big Mac as a Styling Pony :good:
More boy ponies would also be nice and my hopes have gone way up since they'll be releasing Shining Armour so here's hoping for more boys :hope:
I still don't have much hope for Granny Smith since she's an old pony, they'd have to make a special mold just for her but one can hope :hope:

I definitely want the smaller Princess Cadence and Shining Armour, even if I have to buy the playset :frolic:
Not sure yet about the large Princess Cadence even though she looks really nice, I'll have to see her before I make up my mind :what:

It was a really tough choice between Frollo, Scar and Gothel but in the end, went with Scar :drunk:
The fact that he planned his owner brother's murder so he could rise to power and then manipulated his own nephew into thinking his father's death was his fault to get him out of the way so he could be king, his own family destroyed to suit his evil ambitions.... just pure evil :devious:

Off Topic / Re: Do you have a good support system with your collecting?
« on: February 06, 2012, 07:34:59 AM »
Unfortunately no one in my family understands or supports it :(  My mom thinks it's childish and a waste of money and my mother-in-law and father-in-law also feel I'm wasting my money on what they see as "plastic ponies for children" My husband isn't too thrilled either, especially since I'm very actively collecting Disney dolls too but he bears with it and will buy me a pony or doll I really want occasionally :P
So no really big support system other than my fellow collectors here on the Arena :lovey:

The Dollhouse / Re: Gorgeous new Rapunzel doll..
« on: February 02, 2012, 01:06:28 AM »
Omg! Although, admittedly, I'm a little sad... I was about to reroot a Rapunzel doll with her cute, short hair.
But she's cuuute! :o
I would still do that reroot. She is going to be a $100 exclusive.
I kinda guessed from the packaging that she wasn't gonna be cheap :yikes:  Why can't they make a more affordable version for us and the kids  I want a short-haired Rapunzel so bad :frolic:

Wanted! / Seeking Mattel Hercules doll and Pegasus:) MEGARA FOUND!
« on: January 30, 2012, 12:45:17 PM »
So I really really want the Fashion Secrets Megara doll where she's in her purple dress and a Golden Glow Hercules doll :lovey: The problem is they're sooo expensive on Ebay with the huge shipping costs and the huge taxes I'd have to pay so I was hoping someone could offer them cheaper :hope:
I'm very open to buying them already opened to keep costs down but my only demand is that Megara's hair is as close to perfect as possible, the paint jobs on both dolls' faces are perfect and Hercules' hair is also without any bad rubs, preferbly on the back so no one sees and only very very minor if possible. I'd in the end need to see pics to make a final judgment on whether the doll or dolls are up to the standards :)
I really wish Disney would make these 2 so new fans can get them cheaper
If the mods feel I'd have better luck in "The Dollhouse" forum, please feel free to move it there as I wasn't sure were to put this to get a bigger response
UPDATE January 31st 2012: My wonderful husband just bought me a Megara doll MIB :frolic:  So I only need a Hercules doll, preferably in really good condition (mint-near mint) to match :P
I'm also in the market for a Magic Wings Pegasus, also by Mattel :lovey:

Off Topic / Re: Job market is really that tough?
« on: January 28, 2012, 08:04:06 AM »
To you folks in college, really try to connect with your teachers, take advantage of seminars and talks where you can meet people from industries you might like to work in, and network, network, network.   That is what will get you a job.

Yeah I've been trying to get help from some former teachers but they don't seem to care at all. I've also been going to some of these job seminars to talk to people from different companies but that hasn't helped either. I just get told that I don't have enough experience when they get my card and I never hear from them  I think the problem here is you need stronger connections like a family member, close friend, a close family friend or an ex-coworker to help you, everyone else doesn't seem to care or think it's their problem you can't get a job  These people forget however that that's how they got their first jobs, whatever, I'm done begging for help from these people who don't show the slightest sign of wanting to help :enraged:
I'm hoping that either some company finally realizes I'd be a huge asset despite being newly educated or the temp agency finally comes through with something, she still seems to think she can very easily find me a temp job since she feels I have so many great qualifications :hope:

Getting work doesn't have much of anything to do with experience, or education, it's more about who you know. Your network, who you know that can get you a job.
which is wrong!
Yes it's very wrong, I'm sure lots of people who are talented in their field end up never getting a chance and I'm scared I might end up being one of them  I can't help it that we moved here when I was 16 and my mother and family don't know anyone in my field, it doesn't make me any less qualified than someone who's e.g. aunt or father can get them in. It's a horrible way to hire people because for the most part, you're excluding newly graduated people who may very well be very talented with a little training and can perhaps give the company new and innovative ideas. These young people eventually give up and end up driving buses or taxis or something else were their talents and education go to waste. That's the way it happens here.
It's so disheartening to see people I went to high school with having huge careers since they were lucky to have family that could get them a foot in the door while I'm struggling so hard just to get a "measley" Lab Tech job since I've pretty much given up on ever getting anything based on my Master's :yikes:

I'm one of those 'over qualified' people.
Been looking for a decent job for over two years. I was out of work for 18 months.
Still haven't got the job I studied for. College and University, all that time and money for nothing.
*le sigh*
Same here, I have a Masters in Biotechnology and from 2007 until 2009 applied for hundreds of jobs (even work in a pharmacy) but no one wanted to hire a newly educated engineer  I got sick of it and took a Lab Tech degree and the 1 year and 3 month experience I got as a trainee seems to count for nothing. Either I don't have enough experience, don't have the right experience (have chemistry experience when they want biotech experience) or I'm too over qualified to work as a Lab Tech with a Master's Degree :stressed: It's very frusterating and upsetting because I'm feeling the way you do Rainbowjuice :cloud:
I've pretty much given up on finding a job with my Master's Degree but am still hoping for a Lab Tech job :drunk:  I got into a temp agency as soon as my 3 month extension was over so she's working hard to find me something :work: I really hope something comes up soon :hope:
