Not exactly a toy but a fun thing.
I had Sea Monkeys years ago and they lived for a while, maybe a year and half. They were fun to watch. I recently bought an Aqua Dragons kit after doing some research. Aqua Dragon are supposed to be better quality in terms of hatching and lifespan.

Everything it comes with; tank, eggs, food, magnifying glass, spoon, air bubbler.

It even has an LED light.

This is after adding the eggs and aerating the tank. The booklet said some will hatch right away but they'll be too small to see. They should double in size over the next few hours. Tomorrow they get fed for the first time.
I'll keep this post updated on my little shrimp :)

I've heard some interesting things about aqua dragons. I'm looking forward to the updates. :)

Oh cool tank. Looking forward to seeing the...are they basically just sea monkeys under a different name? Or a different species entirely?
-
No they are the same little brine shrimp that sea monkeys are.

Day 2!

The tank is nicely oxygenated.

This was after I added to food and used the bubbler to spread it around. Not much difference from the first pic.
I found some tiny shrimp! I took some video. Sorry for my shakiness, I had to hold it up to the window in order to see them and I have a tremor. Look in the middle and up a bit, hopefully you'll be able to see them.

Oh snap, I see a couple!!
I’m impressed with how oxygenated that tank looks.
-
Oh hey! I can see a couple swimming around.
-
I saw them too!

Well that was fast! Give it a couple of months and you'll be seeing their grandchildren's children. :P

There's a guy on YouTube who has a colony that's three years old. My original Sea Monkey tank was about a year old. Then I went on a trip and my boyfriend forgot to feed them. When I came home they were all dead :(

Is he your ex? :P (I know it could’ve been an honest mistake, but I immediately imagined an argument: “WHAT ABOUT THAT TIME YOU KILLED MY SEA MONKEYS?!” What does that say about me? idk  Now I’m nervously laughing to myself and deciding whether I should hit post……………… :shy:)
They sure are active this morning!
-
LOL yes he is my ex :P
I aerated the tank again after I fed them so they were a little tossed around.

Day 10!
They've gotten big enough to see their little leggies.

its like that game SPORE, but in real time!
-
That one in the middle is really paddling!
-
Wow, I can see the little tails and front flippers/fins wagging. :wow: Do they all fit well in that pool? How big do they grow?
-
They can get about 3-5cm in length. When I had them before I didn't have this many. I don't think they will all grow into full adults. I'm assuming the space given is enough for them. I can always get a nano tank for them. The good news is they don't attack or eat each other.

Some tanks are awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsEFVy5bVu4&t=528s&ab_channel=~JAMIE~

Day 15!
There's one that's bigger than all the others, but it was hiding behind the design.

Day 20...
No video today as it's too dark to get a good one. Many of them have died :( The ones left are the bigger ones. I was careful not to overfeed them and I aerate them twice a day like the booklet says, so I'm not sure why so many died. Maybe it was too crowded?
-
Oh! That's how it goes in nature too, only the strongest survive. Let's hope that these bigger ones will be able to live and continue to grow. It would be so interesting to see how they develop and live.
I've never heard of these before (I thought this was just some toy thing)!  I googled their name and found out that these are also sold in Finland! I have to write a new wish list for Santa!
-
They're so cool to watch :) I have them on my desk. It makes me want to get a small aquarium and some fish.
It's going to be very cold again, and I worry about the sea monkeys surviving. I looked to see if I could get a little heat mat for them but even the smallest ones heat to 100 degrees, and that's too hot. I'm not sure what to do to protect them from the cold.
-
I counted 9 today. The water is getting cloudy.

Funny and strange creatures.. ^.^
Do you have to change the water or do they live in the same water as long as they live?
-
They live in the same water but you can add more when it evaporates. I used bottled spring water.
The cloudiness went away when I skipped feeding them. They get fed every three days, like the book says, but I think it might be too much for mine that are left.
-
They are busy gettin' busy  I can't tell the males and females apart, but there is a mix.
They're all pretty good sized now, the biggest one is still darker than the others.

I think they all died from the cold :(
edit: There's one left. I've named her Matilda.

Come on Matilda!!!

Oh no, how sad! Let's hope that Matilda manages to live and grow up!
-
Exciting news! All day I only saw Matilda swimming around but tonight two more came up from the bottom where I can't see :hearts:
-
:frolic: That's great! :frolic:
-
Come on Matilda & her two friends!!!
-
Two of them are stuck together! Apparently, that is how they mate and they can stay like this for days.
-
Matilda and friends have gone :( but there might be eggs, so I'm going to let it dry out. I poured most of the water out already but the eggs would be on the bottom so there's some left. Once it's dried, I'll get some more water conditioner and maybe another egg pack and hatch some more :)
-
It's sad to hear that Matilda and her friends didn't survive. :( But it was interesting to be able to follow them and nice to see more in the future if you ever plan to buy those creatures again. ^.^
