A new line of Rocker Ponies would have been an excellent idea!  The story could include a rock group that comes to ponyville.  We could have a whole 80s decked out set of new ponies AND the mane group could get a punk makeover for the concert so we would have both sets of toys.

O.o Am I missing something? Those gothy designs look like something my little sister and her friends (8-10ish) would love. There are "goth" dolls aimed at kids, and shows/films that celebrate that kind of thing for kids, so I don't get where people are getting this idea that the target demographic won't like it or that it's not appropriate/is scary - it's just some black paint and designs. If kids couldn't handle a bit of that then Halloween wouldn't be a thing.

I'm interested to see what they'll call the set - are they dressed up for Nightmare Night or are they going to call it something else?

I agree- I think the kids will dig the designs.  They like Monster High after all.  In fact, I bet that is what Hasbro is trying to cash in on.   And no, the ponies are not even CLOSE to being scary- and in fact the quasi-goth look is pretty mainstream these days.

I don't know if anyone has spotted these yet but I was surfing one of our china sellers on ebay and it looks like we're getting Flash Centry, a purple Mr. Cake, and pink nurse blind bags:)

Flash was shown at the toy fair, yeah. The other two showed up on page 60 and are thought to be fakies.

Now that 4DE has released pictures of its upcoming Big Mac and Applejack- it looks to me like the factory turning out the above Shining Armor/AJs may be basing their ponies on the 4DE model.  Wonder if it is the factory that 4de is using?

At any rate- the knock off Big Mac (and their other ponies) are super cute.  If I didn't already know that 4DE was coming out with a somewhat nicer/higher quality/licensed version- I'd totally snap him up.

My apologies if this has been listed (since this thread seems to have evolved into a discussion thread, it's pretty hard to find out quickly what is new)

But I just spotted this FS size Rainbow Pinkie on Taobao

She seems to be the one that will come out with plastic clothing.  It was hard resisting her, but I managed *pats self on back*

All I can think about when I see these goth ponies is "RAINBOW OF DARKNESS"

Ohhh, lovely. I knew Tirac was into that kind of stuff. One zap with the bag-rainbow and the ponies are Hot Topic material!

You know that the ironic thing is Hot Topic is actually the one giving us accurate looking ponies, while hasbro is the one making creepy ugly ponies, bahaha they have lost their minds I think.

Did you really just say Hot Topic is more "accurate" to Hasbro's products than Hasbro is? :P

Yea I'm referring to the funko ponies,, they look a whole lot more like ponies, than the Gothic fan favorites set that TRU will be carrying.

It's Hasbro, though. They control the spice ponies, they control the universe accuracy.

Eh they have lost a lot of respect from me over the past couple months, disappointment after disappointment I am buying less and less from them, and spending my money elsewhere.

That's a nice alternative to the singles packaging! None of those are color combos we haven't seen before, though.
