Well, it's official, their nose as detached from their upper jaw.  The story was harmless enough, but the animation was terrible.  The giggling was also...off putting.

I still find myself asking, why is Hasbro making a brand called "My Little Pony" when they're making them less and less horse-like?

At least they have noses at all (for now). The next step is giving them completely flat faces with cat ears. Oh, and unicorn horns, regardless of if they’re unicorns or not. And they poop slime.

I was wondering why the style felt familiar.  I guess the lack of swearing and gore threw me off.

I agree with the leg bending that way... it looks painful.  And I'm not a big fan of it. Their mouth is looking weird, I mean, I can't make out how their face works.
Also, Pinkie's giggles instantly reminded me of Happy Tree Friends so now I'm super ashamed and I can't unhear it. 

Yes, yes, and VERY YES. Glad I wasn't the only one who started hearing HTF halfway through watching that short. I used to watch it a lot as a kid, sounded so much like it there for a bit that I couldn't separate the two in that moment even though I tried.

I just watched this. I don't like the way the mouths looked or moved. Are the ponies going to speak in the new shorts? I think Twilight might have said "Huh?" but the rest of it was just Pinkie giggling and Twilight making noises.

The Claymation/stop motion looks like a downgrade from FIM.

I think it's just a promotional gig. There's been a few stop motion MLP videos, and I imagine this was ordered before the COPPA case effecting Youtube. It feels like something from 2016. The actual show has voice actors confirmed (they're keeping the same ones as FiM) and will be a traditional TV show.

That image is apt and your statements agreeable haha. I actually.... maybe I've seen the old stop motion stuff? Gosh, if I have though I don't really remember it.

I think the animation style is super cute!
I wish they'd used some voice acting though, the constant giggling and grumbles felt a bit uncomfortable

I mean, in what other ways could they move toys that have no articulation and extra heads to swap? Clay and stickers is the best option.
This stop motion thing is something toy collectors/reviewers did for years. After a while toy companies picked it up.
Bratz did it, then Monster High, now MLP.

I guess I'm in the minority in thinking this is actually pretty cute?  I love love love stop motion animation and this was fairly well done for being a youtube short! As weird as the mouth under the nose is...I mean, how else would you guys animate this? The toys dont have lower jaws, and it looks like the goal of this was to sell the new pony life style toys. I think the animators did pretty well with what they were given, they have to keep the puppets in the shorts pretty similar to the style of the toys. Frankly even the new animation style for pony life we've seen has the mouths totally disconnected from the noses, its just less jarring in 2D!
