Coin Operated Ride
« on: April 15, 2014, 12:08:20 PM »
This sold on Ebay for $1000 about a year or two ago:

I literally almost bought it but while I mulled it over, calling myself crazy for wanting a coin operated ride in my pony room and checking out how much it'd cost to get it shipped through the company the seller suggested, it sold.

I just wanted to reminisce.  I hope I get the chance again, hahaha.

Here's a video of a different colored one on Youtube.

Anyone remember these from their childhood?

I saw a pink one with blue hair like Medley at a Family Dollar like last year, now it is gone! I have a picture somewhere.

Omigosh that is just simply darling and I'd love to have one of those for my own pony room one day lol :P

I do not remember seeing them in childhood but I have seen pics on the web for certain. I remember seeing life sized Carousel horses of ponies too that sold for a pretty penny as well. That's such a neat find and hopefully you'll get another chance  at one someday. It's too bad these aren't found on Craigslist so that those shipping charges could be waived. I wouldn't mind hauling it away myself to avoid the hundreds for packing and shipping LOL :silly:

I'd be afraid to ask how much shipping would cost for something like that! But what a unique and awesome thing to own!

Any idea how much that carousel pony went for? I've seen the pictures of her and I always wonder. I think we're talking about the same one anyway, the one MustBeJewel owns. :)

I think shipping was a few hundred dollars. Worth it, really.

Sarah Bee owns one of these guys as well :)

They are cute and while I know they have been spotted here, I never came across one when they were mostly active unfortunately. Maybe one day...you never know where an old coin operated toy may be.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Ah thats who it was! I was going to say there's a member here who purchased and pink one with blue hair.
I've never seen one outside of photos. They're very cute and super great for the extreme collector I bet. I wouldn't own one personally though, where could I put it?  :P

It's so appealing to crazy merchandise collectors, even though it's not really merchandise. Anything like this drives me crazy, I'd rather have it than a mint Rapunzel or any rare variant pony or anything. I would make room. And I would literally kill (not really!) for that carousel pony or any of them.

Any idea how much the carousel pony went for?

I should have known Sarah Bee owns one, she has so much awesome stuff!

I have no idea how much the pony went for but I'm guessing thousands? I know that sounds like a lot but I'm thinking it was more than a few hundred but I could be wrong LOL :P

Here's my girl :) I call her Starlight :)

She was £230 but would undoubtedly have gone for more had she been properly advertised. She was listed simply as "20p coin operated ride" lol

I like her better than the one above. At least yours has a proper MLP symbol instead of a cheesy saddle. :)

She's gooorgeousss!!!!!!!!!! It's kind of interesting these are supposed to be MLP Tales characters and the couple I've seen are in the UK, but the one I almost bought was being sold in like Texas or Arizona I think?

Oh, found the answer on that on that video I posted before!

"If you read the video description, I mentioned this version. She was quite rare in this country - we seemed to end up with more of the pink ones, while the blue ones were exported to the US for some reason! I think Hasbro's UK licensing team were not really with it by that point - take a look at some of the colours used in Pony Tales comics and you'll see what I mean! :P"

So I guess if I'm getting one it'll be a blue one. Whatever, I'll take what I can get. :P
