Rainbow Bright!!
« on: November 17, 2013, 12:24:33 AM »
I adored the cartoon, but never had many of the toys. Anyone collect the dolls?

I have a friend who has found a1983 Hallmark 16" talking Rainbow Brite doll with a 12" Starlite pony. Both have mild play wear and no major flaws. I told her I'd ask around for values since I don't collect them myself. I managed to find one talking RB doll listed on eBay but no Starlight (Whaaaa?!)

I can get pictures if it would help place a value on them. Oh, and if anyone is interested in them, shoot me a PM. ;)

Thanks, ponies!!! :D

I have all the 9" dolls except Moonglow and the Rainbow in rainbow colored dress, as well as Starlite, Kitty Brite and Murky.  I used to have Puppy Brite, Baby Brite and Lurky, but decided I didn't need them in my collection.  Still looking for three hand-size sprites!

I don't know about the talking Rainbow, but last time I saw Starlite for sale he was going for $10-15.  Mine was $10 but I got him back in '98.

I do collect Rainbow Brite- but I have everything :D

The talking Rainbow Brite is not vintage- she is from a re-release- I think in 2003.   The tag says Toyplay  2003 I think as well as Hallmark 1983- but that is just the copyright date.

There are a bunch of different Starlite ponies out there, the 12" vintage Mattel/Hallmark one, the 10" vintage Emotions/Hallmark one- and the newer 7/8" ones from Toyplay.

The prices for all of these vary drastically-  your best bet is to do a completed/sold auctions search.  If your talking doll is MOC with all her accessories- you will get more than if she is loose.  Loose- I would guess $10 - $15 or less for all of them.  :

Wow, I'm totally out of this loop. I had no idea there was a re-release. Do they sell the dolls in Hallmark stores? The website isn't super forthcoming...

Mm, it was a few years ago. 2009/2010, They were selling the dolls at major retailers (target, walmart, etc.) It was pretty short lived.

There have been two re-releases-
The first re-release was in 2003 or so-  and a bunch of dolls that look a LOT like the originals were made (I forget the company, maybe Toyplay)

A more recent release was in 2009-2011 or so- they made a "modernized" version of Rainbow Brite and the dolls (just three barbie-sized dolls, Moonglow, Tickled Pink and Rainbow Brite) together with three horses to match.

Here's a nice list of all the dolls from all the releases! http://www.rainbowbrite.net/collect/dolls.html

I don't know why, but when I read your title, an image if a PKF Rainbow Brite popped into my head. This must happen!
