Pony Corral / Re: What kind of collector are you?
« on: April 13, 2014, 05:48:51 AM »
Do you only collect one generation?
Nope, I collect all generations except G3.5(I did once come across a 3.5 Starsong that I found cute, but generally they don't appeal to me).

Being my childhood generation, my main focus is on G1 and depending on what Hasbro does with G4, my collecting of those might be at an end.
I also only collect the playables and playsets. No merchandise, no petites/blind bags and such (I do collect some G1 merchandise though again because of it being from my childhood).

Do you keep your ponies in their boxes?
I can't afford collecting MIB/MOC's, but should I ever be fortunate enough to come across some, then I'll keep them in their boxes.

I do have some G3's MIB that I bought in stores and most of my G4's are in their boxes. I have no plans yet to debox them, but who knows, boxed G3's and G4's aren't that rare, so it wouldn't bother me as much to "release" them, should I ever need the extra space.

Do you collect every pony you can or do you only go for certain models/colours etc?
I simply go for the ones I like.

I have no prefered colours or molds or whatnot. I tend to add ponies to my want list if I have others from the set or think it's a nice set all together though (for instance, I don't really care much for G1 Hula Hula, but I love the Tropical Pony set, so of course I need her as much as the other three). I try not to lose my head though. I have fallen in love with some Nirvanas or really hard to find ponies (read exspensive XD), but I've agreed with myself that I should stay within the borders of international and U.S. releases.

Is there a certain condition your ponies have to be in?
Not really. I am far from a picky collector.

I guess it's because of 1. couldn't afford all the ponies I wanted if I should pay for mint conditions and 2. I've grown up in a home where you couldn't avoid having the dogs "taste" your things. Many of my childhood ponies have either suffered the "brainless-child-hair-cutting-process" or the "dog-thought-it-was-a-new-chewing-toy".
Getting nice and pretty mint or good condition ponies is lovely, but my home is also always open for those with chew-marks, scratches and haircuts. Even smoozed ponies or ponies with a bit of age spots or fainted colours, are accepted ^^
However, I'm not fond of very large cancer/age spots that are very obvious when you look at it at a distance. Mismatched head- and bodycolour is also something I avoid and of course, while I don't mind chew marks, I don't want ponies with missing bodyparts.

Love reading how some members here are very similar to myself and others are almost complete opposites ^^

Customs / Can you bake the schleich horses?
« on: December 03, 2013, 04:53:35 PM »
First of I hope this question is alright here.

Now for the question. As the title say, is it possible to bake the schleich critters? I have a friend who'd like to customize some of her schleich horses. This includes adding wings, horns, etc.

She's been unlucky in finding any information with google, so I thought I'd help her out and ask here.

Personally I would think they'd melt, but I've never tried, so how would I know.

Finally, if you know it's not possible, do you then know of any alternatives?

Pony Corral / Re: DJ-Pon3's eyes (toy)

Thanks a lot both of you ^^

they should have given her magenta eyes and plastic glasses...that would have been cool!

Exactly! I'm not a big animated-DJ fan, but I quite like her design (without the shades/glasses).

Can anyone tell me if she has molded eyes?

I'm thinking of adding her to my wish-list, but only if she has molded eyes so I can remove the painted on shades and give her eyes instead. If she doesn't have molded eyes, I fear painting eyes on her will just look silly and weird.

I think there's a good handful of danish collectors here, but unfortunately most of them are rather inactive (I tend to have long periods of time where I'm very inactive myself), so it always makes me really happy to see new members from our tiny little country

Whether or not selling your collection is the right choice, is a question only you can answer. At least that's how I see it, but I can give you a little tip I've seen other members give each other. Try to put your ponies away. Store them some where out of sight. If you start to miss them, then clearly you shouldn't sell them (at least not all of them), but if you don't miss them or even forget about them, then perhaps selling them isn't a bad idea. Also you could always sell just a few to begin with. The most common ones and your least favorites. That way you can see how thinning out your collection will feel like.

And in case you do decide to sell, I'd say start by offering them here on the arena. Here you can be sure they will get new loving homes and you will be selling to wonderful fellow members and collectors. What doesn't sell here, you can always try to sell elsewhere.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do ^^

Pony Corral / Re: So when do you stop collecting?
« on: March 02, 2013, 06:47:02 AM »
I will stop collecting when I have everything on my wishlist and no new ponies will be released. My wishlist haven't changed since it was first made (some ten years ago or so), except for a veeeeeeeeery few ponies I've fallen in love with after seeing them irl and when G3 and G4 was created, so I'm pretty certain that when I have everything currently on my wishlist, then that will be IT.

I fear however that it will take me a lifetime to get them or worse.. I won't ever get them all. I currently can't afford buying ponies and since I will most likely be studying for a couple of years ahead, it will be a while before I can buy anything again. I'm super worried that some of the things I want won't be available by then or to expensive for me to get.

Hope people don't mind that I send neofriend requests left and right ^^' I know there's a few I haven't added because it wouldn't let me and there's probably someone I've accidently overlooked as well. In that case feel free to add me. I'm zoepetcare.

Even though I've been playing for about nine years and find it to be really addicting, I'm afraid I haven't been very active. My poor pets aren't very strong and I've never managed to paint them the colors I wanted. Good thing you can always write about them or draw them, then they can be whatever I originally intended ^^

So, I recently got my hands on a gorgeous G1 birthflower Holly. The alternate one. Now I've never been interested in this set. I like them, have been tempted to get the two versions of Cosmos (my month) and I think some of the alternate ones are really pretty, but no. They've never been among those ponies I just HAD to have, so when I got her I was like "Jackpot! This will get me money for another Weta Hobbit figurine." (I'm hooked on Weta's Hobbit products, but that's obviously off topic).

..but then I looked at her..

Gosh, she is just so pretty and sweet and and... she's a christmas-y pony and I love christmas and christmas-y ponies.

Now I don't know what to do.
Selling her have always been the idea. Even before I got her I've been thinking that if I ever came across a pony like that I would sell it and get other ponies I really want (or something else hobby-related), but she's just so pretty..

Have anyone else tried this? What did you end up doing?

Pony Corral / Re: The Best [or Worst] Villains?
« on: February 13, 2013, 12:13:03 AM »
A villain who turns good is not a villain in my book. Just a bully ^^

A handful of the villains had really good potential, but I have to go with Tirek. I like his design, he was truly evil and I think he was the one who came closest to winning.

I love to read! Mainly fairytales and fantasy though. It just has to be as far away from reality as possible, because I have enough of "real" life in my own life, so I'd rather not have anymore to do with it ^^' Old history-related subjects are exceptions though (but facts only!).

Unfortunately I rarely get to read. I don't have much time to read and when I finally do I'm usually so worn out that I just pass out after one page (same goes for most reading-related homework). I dream of a future life where I can read, write and draw every day without getting tired ^^
