The way I see it is that it is no different than any other hobby or collection. Some people collect stamps, coins, spoons, china, baseball/trading cards, ceramics or glass. I collect certain kinds of toys. Always have, always probably will. Now I will admit, the fact that my husband has his own toy collections does make it a little easier in regards to shopping/buying new items since it is a shared hobby. In regards to vintage G1 MLP though, I'm starting to think about them as also a toy restoration project. After all, they have to be cleaned up and styled so that is more than just buying it and putting it on a shelf.
Couldn't agree with this more! Some collect shoes, or handbags, cars, etc. A collection is a collection. As long as it brings you joy and you aren't hurting yourself or others in the process then there is nothing wrong with collecting what you like to collect! I think the simple answer to this question is the best.
Because they can
Also a good reason!

I rarely get blind bags, but when I do I get the cheaper ones. I love only a few of the hairdorables dolls, and from what I've seen there's a really good chance of getting a double. I'm not paying $12+ for a blind doll. I'm even apprehensive about getting any cutie mark crew since they apparently don't have codes and I only want muffins (and Luna from series 2). Essentially, I like some blind bags/boxes (of it's under $5 i'm all for it, if it's $8-9 maybe depending on if I like a majority of the possible figures, anything more and it's really iffy).

As someone that missed pre-orders, I just want to know if I have a decent chance of obtaining these ponies (and not pay crazy eBay prices)

Where is every pony finding fakies lately? I'm very picky about my fakies so I dont really have any but there are some I like a lot! Has anyone seen the "sweet box" ponies? They are blind bag size and come in mystery box! http://sbox.club/en/kollekczii/pony3/ They also have MLP and other cute themes! They seem to be sold im Russia! Anyone have access? I was abke to buy 3 from someone here!
Wow, these are so neat!
Edit: Welp, just made three Pinterest boards for these babies, I had no idea they were that prevalent! Can't find the bios for Sweetbox Ponies 2 on the official website, but luckily another website had saved them. I think I like the Sweet-tooth line the most in terms of concept, but the designs could use a little something!
There is a series 2?! Link please!! If you come across them for sale please lmk! I love the designs as well but I totally agree they could use some thing to improve the line! Did you see the MLP sweet box? I absolutely must find a set, Spike is too cute and AJ and Rarity look especially Sassy!
Yeah, series one are the most well-recognized here I think, they don't have an official title but I call them the Elemental Melodies based on their website description.
Series one: https://pin.it/chkvabc5buqmy5
Series two, Floral Pony: https://pin.it/ivdtvcq673nc5y
Series Three, Sweet-tooth Pony: https://pin.it/iuujgrxxyl5l23
I also found there are 'crystal' versions of each series, they're translucent, but they only appear on the Russian site.
Through the Pinterest boards there are some links to the official site for Sweetbox Pony info I'm saving! Mainly character bios. They have so many different blind boxes it's crazy. I did see they have actual mlp blind boxes too! Wish I could find some of the Sweetbox Ponies line in stores, but I did find some online.
I'll mail you the links of the ones I've seen available.
No series one ponies that I can see, the line is probably concluded and no longer sold in stores I guess?
I love the character descriptions on these Marshmallow: can make marshmallow (just one singular marshmallow? Not multiple?) and Cakey bakes cakes (golly gee who would've guessed?)

Spoiler Cheerful yellow backpack-hanger Chrysalis is AMAZING, wow.
I finally found Concerned Pony on Taobao! Not the blue one, though.

They're cheaper quality than blue Concerned pony, which gives them extra reason to be Concerned.
They can be found here:
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=566533419080
But be aware they they will send you a random selection of the four pony sets they have. (But, they're only about $1.50 each.)

I really don't know if the scented oils will work (I'm sure they will, but idk if it's considered a good idea? IDK.) But I do know that dollyhair.com has scents that are meant to be integrated into the hair but I'm sure you could boil some water, put in the scent, and put the pony in? You could also try that with the yankee candle scented oils, but again, idk if it'll work. I'd say put the scent in the hair, not the pony itself since if something does go wrong, hair is easier to replace than a whole pony sometimes

6in pride seapony custom palooza
all have individual posts too if you want a closer look or something https://evilunicorn97.deviantart.com/gallery/59952422/ponies
They're so pretty! Especially the rainbow ponies black n gray and Cheerilee colored one.
I love them too. And now I'm realizing Cheerilee is lesbian pride colors...
That was the plan! just a group of various pride flags! I'm still way too afraid to remove the head on one to reroot it. I'm just afraid of cracking an eye or something. At least I was able to match the hair to the flags though!

Tinsel is my least favorite thing on ponies, but so is the type of glitter that's just slapped on and rubs off (and it's a huge pain to remove for customization purposes). Tinsel just has the tendency to stick up and not cooperate ever and just makes the pony's hair look all messy

no sign of this Tempest in Colorado (from what I've seen. And I've been looking since I have a friend who loves Tempest and wants just her without buying a set just to get her)

Almost all of my G4.5 ponies have had really bad hair. I got lucky on a few and their hair is really nice, but I'd say 90% of them just have dry, frizzy, straw-like feeling hair. That's why I mostly stopped with collecting 4.5 ponies and just get them for customs. Hopefully with the big 6" set coming out with the mane 6 and princesses the hair quality issue will be somewhat resolved. I don't want a big Luna with garbage hair
