Title: TE Sweet Stuff Major Restoration: Complete!
Post by: Sunshine on February 20, 2013, 11:30:24 AM
So, I put this in the brag arena because I am really happy with the restoration of TE Sweet Stuff.

A little background, and then the pictures... I bought TE Sweet Stuff as a bait pony with the following problems: Tail rust, extremely frizzy hair, AND she was smooshed side to side. Those were her major flaws.
When I finally got her in my hands... well... here she was:

So I embarked on a journey of trying to restore her to some of her former beauty. I first took her apart... and this is what I found:

Yep, all that fun stuff on the paper towel is powdered rust. Part of her tail washer was still "solid", the rest was tangled and crumbling into her tail. The tail clamp was completely rusted. There was so much rust that it was coming out of her mane holes as well. And you can see how badly she was crushed side to side... a big crease in her foot!

Into an OxyClean boil bath. Tail, head, body. BLEH. Water just turned rust red. I had to change it a few times because I was worried it would stain her body or her hair. After much scrubbing by hand with oxyclean and a toothbrush... I finally got her body to come back to shape... and removed all hints of rust...

Then it was onto fixing her hair.

So, here she is now - ready to find a new home. living happily displayed on my desk!! She still has some minor issues that I couldn't fix, from suffering through such a rusty life, but, overall, I would say she's 100x nicer than before!!

Alright, well I was just really excited about how I was able to restore her, so I felt she needed a little "brag arena" love :)

Thanks for looking! :)

She looks great. That goes to show how little credit people give an old pony when listing it as bait.

You did a super job on her, I have been wondering about boiling a TE due to the eyes, they held up okay?

I had no issues with the gems, as long as I waited a little bit for her head to cool before putting a lot of pressure on that part of her head, since I had to scrub out her mane area pretty well. I just ran her head under cold water before doing that so she hardened up again. :)

Thanks!! She's definitely much happier now that she's all pretty!

I haven't even bothered to list her for sale yet, heh... not sure I'm gonna let her go, even though I already have 2 TE Sweet Stuff's in my herd, heh...

I imagine it would be hard to let her go after putting so much work and love into her. I love seeing major transformstions like this as well because it shows how much better a pony can look after some hard cleaning work. Congrats...she turned out lovely.

I'm looking forward to finding another restore-worthy pony to work on soon, so if you have any scary baits, you know who to call, lol
