Have second hand G4s (other than McDonald's toys) begun turning up anywhere else? This week I found a talking Princess Celestia in perfect condition in a nearby Value Village. Not yet sure if this is the beginning of a trend or just one person who was already tired of it, but I'm certainly not complaining. Anyone else have any luck yet? Thrift store shoppers might want to keep their eyes open for them.
-
I haven't seen any here yet. But I tell you.... I will buy a talking Celestia when they go on clearance , under $10!!! That's a promise Hasbro! :P

i second that notion

Wow!! That is neat!
-
I've only seen the McD's, and not very many yet.

Not below $10, but I got mine for $10.99 with free shipping from Amazon a few weeks ago!
-
So far I've found a Twilight Sparkle, a molded hair AJ, and a raised leg Rarity from thrift stores. :3
-
I bought a talking Celestia from Savers, and I also saw the Pinkie Pie bubble blower. Otherwise, I mostly see G3s.
-
I've seen happy meal toys mostly, But I got a Rarity at Value Village once, along with her little carriage. I also saw a Pinkie Pie bubble blower there once, but didn't get it, since it seemed a little on the broken side of things...
-
I really wish they would show up, but they haven't, as far as I know. @__@; (I haven't been in a bit, but we'd go to like 4~8 different thrift stores weekly if not more. eek).
With my luck, they'd be in a bag of junk toys, marked too high.
-
Yeah, I got Rarity and Shine Bright Rainbow Dash about a month ago in a thrift store.
-
I've only seen the McDonalds G4 ponys at the goodwills near me.
But i kinda hope i dont find G4s because then i will want to collect them lol
Although i would love to find the Fashion Style ponies for a price cheaper than new since i am collecting those lol
-
I found Shine Bright Luna for $0.90 at the thrift shop two weeks ago. I also got a bunch of McDonalds G4's.
-
Seems frightening to me that kids would go through their new toys that fast.
However, at least they were donated so someone else could enjoy them.

I know, I felt the same way! The one I found even still has her curls! Like you said, though, at least they're ending up somewhere where someone else can enjoy them.
-
Nothing so far at my local thrift store but I keep hoping. . . :)
-
I found Styling Applejack and Styling Pinkie Pie (on separate days) for $2 or $3 each. Pinkie Pie only had her dress, but Applejack had all her accessories except her apples.
-
I found the bottom half of Twilight Sparkle's balloon at Goodwill--lol.
-
I've found Applejack and Easter Fluttershy as well as some Fashion Style accessories.
-
I haven't seen any G4's 2nd hand yet, but I barely see ponies second hand from any gen, generally its G3's. I do hope people start getting sick of them soon & start to donate / sell them at garage sales / markets. This would please me muchly ^^

All small plastic toys go straight to the recycling bin at my local Salvation Army. They had to get rid of the toy bin because parents were leaving their kids there to play and making a mess. :( I found many G1s there. I cry at the thought of them being melted down!!!!!

Oh no :( that is terrible! I really wish parents would keep a better eye on their children in stores. I know the number of times I could have very easily grabbed a small child & wandered out of the store with it scares me so much, all because their parent is too stupid or lazy to watch it properly. Unfortunately children seem to be treated as "property of the village" in most public places now with parents, I don't know what goes through their heads.
-
I only ever saw a G3 Waterfire, but all her hair was completely chopped off and her symbol was somewhat wiped away. I'd love to find some McD toys in thrift stores.
-
I've only found McD's. I can't believe these toys are already hitting thrift stores, kids get tired of them that quickly??
-
I haven't seen any over here in Britain yet, but I know others who have. I think we still need a little more time. After all, G4s haven't been out here for as long as they've been out in the US. I'm rather hopeful for when the car boot sale season will start again, though. By that time, we should have some kids who've grown bored with their G4s.
-
Not in mine. I check almost daily. :(

How awful! Most of the toys are hanging up high in bags in the store I shop at, so children can't play with them. It's not a daycare..
-
I think if they are popping up in thrift stores they might be doubles since Hasbro seems to like to repack the same ponies again and again in the sets. Like if a kid already has Pinkie Pie but wants the car and/or the train, they end up with extra Pinkies.

That makes sense. I wonder why they do that....I mean yeah more money, but it means they use more plastic too. Hm.

I've found tons of McDonalds, a styling Rarity, and a Fluttershy :)
It's weird to me that these are already being gotten rid of, but I suppose they might have just gotten one and not liked it. I'm also finding Mcdonalds Hello kitty, that were JUST released.
-
*rocks in rocking chair* back in my day, when we got toys, we had better have liked them and played with them, or else!
hahah really though, I think so many kids now are spoiled rotten -___-;

Not surprised to find McDonalds toys either. Some families eat there way too often (I was lucky my Mom had worked there or else I would not have had the ones I had as a kid. We didn't get happy meals often at all, since even when she didn't work there if we got mcdonalds it would be a regular cheeseburger each and me and my sister would split a regular fry and hi c cause it was cheaper.) and end up with multiples.
-
Could also be a case of gift giving gone awry. Little girl says she likes ponies, family member picks up pinkie pie, kid doesn't like pink. So instead of throwing it away or letting it rot in a toy bin, she takes it to a thrift store. I actually think that's a step up from how things were when I was a kid. Maybe I'm weird though.
-
All of ours ended up being donated to local nursery schools, but that wasn't until I was about 12 or so, when I thought I was too cool for ponies -__-
-
I only found a MD Fluttershy last May...
-
I've found a FS Princess Celestia (with her crown!), a FS Pinkie Pie... a Talking Celestia (without her crown or collar. :( ) and lots of McDonald's G4s at various Goodwills and Savers. :D
-
And now today I found a FS Pinkie Pie. I guess I can start to call this a trend in my area.
-
I used to work at a museum and later at a barnes and noble booksellers. At both places, we would end up with a lost and found box full of toys and other things (umbrellas and coats and shoes. Or just one shoe. I never understood that!). We always donated what we could after two-three months. Sometimes, younger kids would leave toys on a table or the floor and the parents wouldn't remember/see and the toys were just lost.
As sad as it is to think kids are playing through the toys fast enough to donate them, this could also be what is happening, maybe?
-
Could be lost and found donations too, especially given the area I live in. I also suspect the post-Christmas unwanted gifts is part of it. A few of the ones people have found have been out for at least a year, though, too, right? I mean, my family certainly didn't get rid of toys that quickly, but it doesn't seem too surprising, I guess... Of course, I also found in the same thrift store a tea set that turned out to likely have been a gift from South Korea to a diplomat (it still had the card inside), so I guess some people in my area really do value things differently.

This makes me so sad... :( Thanks alot Pixar! All I can think of is the toys having support meeting groups (has anyone else seen the Toy Story Toon: Small Fry, that was in front of the new Muppet Movie!? )
-
I also found a talking Celestia at Value Village for $1.99. Other than that, I've seen a bunch of McD toys plus G3s and fakies
-
Last Saturday I found a fashion Fluttershy at Savers for $2! My roommate was a bit perturbed, as he'd just bought her the day before brand new. >.<
-
Haven't found them at thrift stores, but I got a Honeybuzz off Craigslist. Someone was selling her with her saddle, bee pet, and the Ponyville dress shop that looks like a purse for $5. My daughter saw the photo and wanted it for her birthday so we got it. Pretty good deal considering just the pony would be $5 new at least. I'm watching Goodwill stores now though since Christmas is over and people might be donating rejected gifts!
-
I've found a FS Princess Celestia (with her crown!)
Celestia but no Luna? Maybe it was a brony and Celestia wasn't wanted because she was inaccurately pink.
-
It could also be parents getting tired of toys all over the floor and saying 'clean these up or they'll be donated', and the kids don't listen. I've gotten close to that point in my own house. For now, toys aren't donated, but they end up in a box in our basement. I just spent a half hour with my kids this morning, teaching them to put away toys properly, and put the bins back in the shelves and such. My office finally doesn't drive me crazy... for a day or so anyway.
No G4's in my area yet...
-
I'm sure it's a combination of many things, not just one theory. It would be nice if they are all cherished ponies that were lost, but personally, I think it's kids with way too many toys.
-
I found a Rarity with her carriage still in the box at goodwill some kid must ahve really not wanted her seems kinda sad
-
Yep, I've got a Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, and Applejack single ponies from thrift stores.
-
Fashion style Pinkie Pie sitting at my value village right now... well, it was yesterday..... So, I'm seeing moooore of 'em.

Awhile ago, I was at a thrift store where there was this superman figure, brand new in its box... Written on the front of the box was "To Mr. (cant remember the name)..." And it when on to say how they think he's just a super hero, and how he's inspired them... Well, my first thought was teacher, counselor, or something like that..... And I sure hope this man was older, and passed away or something, and it was his family members that gave it away... Because, otherwise, all I could think was "What a jerk..." when I saw that sitting there. Cause whether you like superman or not, you should respect a gift from someone who seemed to look up to you. :/
Thrift stores can be weeeeiiird places sometimes, people certainly do give away things that they just.... shouldn't... O.o
-
Yes, I found Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle at Goodwill. They where in their boxes, but the boxes where smashed all to heck. For $2 each, I got them for customs. :D I also found Rarity's carriage, but the back end was broken off so I left it.
-
I ALSO found a talking Princess Celestia last week. Maybe kids are just sick of "My barrettes are SO pretty!" :D
I wish I could find some singles for bait! Or FS would be even better!
-

oh I know I would be
-
My area has seen a few mcdonalds and I've snagged 2 of the smaller styling ponies, one apple jack and one fluttershy in my local stores.
-
Same thing happened to me. I wasn't going to get talking Celestia initially but when I saw her at goodwill for a dollar I couldn't say no. Her hair was still curled and in basically mint condition.

Hahaha, I had a singing unicorn when I was 3-4 years old and my mom got SO angry with it and she got rid of it. It was sad. XD
-
I am starting to find the McDonalds ponies in the thrift stores....I am sure the regular release G4's are soon to follow!
-
I've found talking Celestia, Shine Bright Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle's balloon, Pinkie Pie bubble bower, Applejack.. tons of the McD's toys and styling Luna and Celestia. I think I'll just not buy any new at all :-P I' just get 'em as they pop into the thrift stores!
-
I think the big toys are the first to get "cleaned out" of the house. I have found soooo many G3 crawling Pinkie Pies, Good Morning Sunshines, the G3 singing Pinkie Pie, G3 Fashion Styling ponies . . .
If you don't care about accessories, I highly recommend not purchasing toys like Talking Celestia brand new and just waiting for them to show up at the thrift store.
-
I've seen a lot of G4 McD and a few normal ones. Not much though.
-
Yep, I have found a few, so I grab them for trades. :)
-
I haven't seen any figures, but I did spot a Canterlot play castle at Goodwill last week, brand new in the box.
-
Last time I was at Good Will all I found was a ratty looking G3 Scootaloo. =P
-
Well the only thing G4 related I found was a Fluttershy with a brush able tale and a molded mane, but it says on her leg that she was for McDonald's . Still was a surprise to me to find her though.
-

What? How can you get sick of THAT? :P I just love how ridiculously out of character and conceited she is!
I can't believe so many of you are finding G4s in thrift shops already! I found a styling Rarity a few months ago, and was shocked to see such a new pony who was already being gotten rid of. I figured she was probably one of the first G4s to hit the secondhand market. Guess not :P
I was going to turn her into a custom Glory, but aside from a little pink highlighter on her ear, she cleaned up to be almost mint, so...now I have two styling Raritys :P
-
I haven't seen any yet :)
-
Forgot about finding a G4 McDonald's Pinkie Pie last year at my favorite thrift store when I posted earlier. That's all so far though.^^;
-
I wish I could find more pony stuffs at the thrift store near me. I've only found one bag of G3s, nothing G4. I check it on a regular basis, bound to find something else eventually.
-
Man, you guys are so lucky! I haven't found ANY ponies at a thrift store or garage sale since 2006! I don't go very often now, because I never get my hopes up (plus my baby keeps me busy). There are 5 surrounding my house, though. You'd think I'd get lucky once in a while =P
-
wow they are showing up already?! :faint: makes me sad that kids dont have the same attachment to their toys these days as we did *sigh* oh dear I sound soooo old :yikes:  :P
but anyways... yay !!! its gonna be more fun hunting the charity shops for ponies again now :frolic: :cheer: :frolic:
-
Sadly, I found a Rainbow Dash at Goodwill. She looked so lonely, so I turned her into my first custom.
