Customs / Prepping a "New Generation" pony for re-hairing (Izzy Moonbow)
« on: December 30, 2021, 10:33:52 AM »
Hello!
I am customizing an Izzy Moonbow from the "A New Generation" 6-pack.I thought these pics would be helpful to anyone customizing one of these ponies. Several of these ponies have hard molded plastic hair, so this is the process for one of the ones with brushable hair.
First off, let me tell you that the hair is gorgeous! It is super soft and very shiny. That said, I wanted to cut it all off

As you might know, the heads of the ponies pop off of the neck pretty easily. To get to the hair, you will need to remove the plug at the base of the skull. In the case of this pony, there was not a lot of glue. I was able to run a sharp stylus over the seam with medium pressure multiple times until I could slip the stylus through the seam and pry the plug out.

I imagine that some ponies might have more glue in this seam. If this is the case, you may need to carefully cut the plug out along the seam with an exacto knife (I have checked and some of the ones in the 6 pack do seem to have a stronger seal where this plug is.)

After the plug is out, you will have a nice big hole for re-hairing, which is a huge bonus. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was NO glue holding the hair in! It pulled right out cleanly with needle nosed plyers. Even small left over hairs can be blown out with compressed air or a puff of breath.

Getting the plug out is the hardest part- afterward, as long as the other ponies don't have glue, these bodies seem like they will be a joy to re-hair!
Happy customizing everyone!
(p.s. excuse my "working hands" non-manicure )

I bet the bullet and bought the set of six ponies from target today! I do intend to customize at least a few of them. The first one that I’m going to do is hitch. I took him out of the box and wow, they are so different from the other ponies. The head literally pops right off with no effort because it swivels completely on a ball joint. Please see the pictures I have attached. The body is really heavy and solid I have no idea how I will get the tail out ha ha. I was able to remove his molded hair and remove the ball joint with just my hands no tools.
You can see the details in the image folder. It looks like I might be able to get through the tail through the neck hole, but the hole is about the size of  the circumference of a US dime coin. Wish me luck and feel free to ask any questions!

Hi everyone! This is my first post of a custom here in a loooooong time.
This xenomorph piney was made from a 3” G3 McDonald’s pony. I used Apoxie sculpt for the head carapace, backbone and hip spots, and the tail and long back spines are cosclay over aluminum. The tail is flexible and posable!
The Playset eggs are also apoxie sculpt, and the base has Swarovski accents.
I hope you like her!
Also- my pony name is Eruna but I am also found @amysbirdhouse

Customs / Help with pricing a custom for selling?
« on: September 27, 2018, 01:32:21 PM »
The custom world is so mixed up lately... I have no idea what to charge for this alien queen. Thoughts? Fair price? It’s large- about 11” built of a G3 Rarity.

Customs / Cthulu : my latest commission
« on: April 09, 2018, 07:20:39 AM »
Hi everyone
It has been a super long time since I posted here, but I recently received a commission to create 3 custom ponies. This is the first one completed: Cthulu! The base was a very baity G1 Applejack. The sculpting was completed with Apoxie's Fitix-Sculpt and Angelina fusible film. It is painted in color shifting iridescent acrylics, sealed with PYMii, and has Swarovski crystal accents. The symbol is the sigil on the cover of the Necronomicon. Enjoy!
