Pokemon Direct : new Pokemon games! Sword / Shield

I've never considered billboards and the like as hand holding personally, because they're optional. It's only when they're forced on the player that it becomes annoying to me. I can handle a quick "hey, here's how to catch a Pokémon" for the new players, but beyond that, I'd like to get on with it.

the hand holding never bugged me (I'm indifferent to it) -- but I am a veeeery casual player.

It would be nice if they had easy / hard mode (like I've seen in other games) for young players and veteran players. Or at least a skip tutorial option. 9_9

And maybe if the "let's go series" stays a thing, maybe the main games will have a harder difficulty (and I think they should if they continue that split), but probably not...

All pokemon games have hand holding. If you'll recall every gen has Pokemon tips on billboards, some have Pokemon schools, the original had the old man and his teachy tv and so on.

You're right, but you can choose if you wanted to look at them. With sun and moon you couldn't skip them, so it was forced down your throat and throughout the entire game.

Even on X/Y, when the mom asks if you know how to use the map and you say "yes", instead of assuming you know how to use the map, the mom continues on with "Don't you just..." and still explains how to do it. But I agree that Sun/Moon had a lot of extra hand holding that wasn't in the previous games.  Maybe that was because of player feedback of some kind, but it was a bit much.

Ugh yesss - the hand-holding in Sun/Moon was ridiculous. Yeah, all the games have hand-holding, but not to THIS extent. Usually it was just a quick tutorial or some optional tips here and there, whereas with Sun/Moon I was always thinking "geez, just leave me alone! I can figure it out for myself!!".

I like the idea of a difficulty adjuster (easy/hard mode) or just having ONE tutorial that's skippable.

(and oog, don't even get me started on the amount of cutscenes in Sun/Moon...!)

My guess is Sun/Moon was more tutorial-intensive because they figured Pokemon Go would grab younger players who are interested in jumping in. I wish there were a way to skip tutorials completely, though. Unless there's a new mechanic or something-I get it.

I hope the rabbit isn't another Fire/Fighting or psuedo Fire/Fighting. Given that its a UK setting and is called Sword and Shield, I could easily see the fire starter being Fire/Steel, Fire/Ground, Fire/Fairy, Fire/Normal or Fire/Ghost.

Scorbunny has a sporty look to it. It's easy to make that a fire/fighting type. I saw someone else say fire/electric, that'd be pretty cool. It would make sense too, since rabbits are fast and everything.

So excited! Buying a switch! I cant wait to see the evolutions and hopefully a new Eevee! We havent had one since Sylveon! If Splatoneon and that horrific ghost eevee are real, I will cry.

I am VERY leery of it, considering the 'jokes' being thrown around at the Scottish references, and people trying to make memes using it and Scottish Twitter (a lot of them making fun of the language, thinking we 'don't speak proper English' when we are speaking SCOTS, an ACTUAL language).
