ebay questions
« on: April 21, 2013, 11:37:20 AM »
hi, i know iv posted about this before. iv bought loads from ebay, but never listed anything to sell, because im a little scared. everyone basically told me its hard to START listing things, with fees and all that stuff, and i only had the handful of things here and there that id like to sell.

but i got this email from ebay, and ill admit i dont check my email often if im not expecting something. basically it says that i can list auctions for free untill the 29th? so is that actually a good deal? has anyone else gotten this invite? im sure im nto the only one rofl. are they just going to take some cut out of the final price?

the entire selling side of ebay is sort of confusing and a little scary to me, but if i could get over that, i think id have better luck selling the random little things i dont need anymore.

(also i wasnt sure if this should be in TS or OT boards, sorry if this is the wrong place)

Yes, right now they are waving the listing fees. If your item sells, you pay a % of the final value. If it doesn't sell, you pay nothing. With that deal now is a good time to give it a try. Start out with just a couple items.

I'm sure plenty of folks on this side can answer general eBay questions.  :)

I'm not one of them, though!  Sorry.

The invites I believe are selected at random for the specials. I think it is a way to try and get new sellers, especially if you are strictly a buyer at this point.

It's great they wave the insertion fee's but you will still be charged a Final Value fee on whatever you sell. So it's not free all the way around, just free to list it.

Heh. The trick there is that you get 50 "free" listings a month anyway. :) So even if you decide not to try it right now, you can always try it later.

They just take out the cheapest fee they have....a long time ago it was like $1 total to list and there never was any percentage taken out of the final sale!!! If you do sell, make sure you have correct shipping, don't jip yourself!!! I did that today on 3 auctions...it came up to a $10 difference then what I listed...so $10 just came out of my pocket (Can never figure out the calculated Shipping!)

Whichever you choose, good luck!
