'First 50 ponies'
« on: January 12, 2015, 07:05:51 AM »
You know when you're on Strawberry reef, and sometimes it tells the story of the 'first fifty' ponies available though ebay...Does anyone on the arena have one?

{EDIT} Oh my goodness I meant for this to go onto the Coral! I'm so sorry! I mean I guess it kind of fits here but I meant for it to go onto the Coral, sorry Mods !

I have the first 50 collector pose anniversary ponies, they seem to be the exact same as the later release, other than the sticker.

I had one... I may still have it, I am not sure.  I think mine was Rainbow Dash.

The first 50 for G3's?
As far as I remember, because I have one and asked once, there was a limited set first released with first 50 certificates. But after that, they realized it was a great way to make money, so they started doing first 50 for a lot more "first" releases, but they don't have certificates, just a sticker. That's one of the ones I have, and I was told they're not worth very much, but the ones with the papers are.

But I may be wrong on that.

I have a #43 Wysteria and loads of other ones. The first 8 were the only numbered ones and quite expensive! They're just the first 50 off the production line so there's not much if any difference other than you paid for a sticker on the box that says so. They were pretty pricey still but I don't know what current market value would be. The only one I have that's noticeably different is my Sea spray who's much darker in color.

I just checked my closet, and I do still have my #8 Rainbow Dash!

----

I remember that when I got her the first certificate had a Xeroxed signature...  There was a bit of a mess with that, as the listing said 'signed'.  So a second signed certificate was mailed out to me.   I have all the paperwork and certificates.  :)

Not sure if they did certificates long after that.  Due to hassle.

Yes, as Wysteria says it was basically a bit of a marketing tool to push G3 when it hit stores - a pre release if you like to promote the line.

I am pretty sure most of them all seemed to be snapped up by collectors at the time - adults were more of the market for them than the actual children the line was for.

Right, I know the collectors were really excited (I sure was!) but not sure about kids.   lol
