Ohhh Minty!

Found this book at the thrift store yesterday called "Minty Monkeys Around".

I swear, some of these licensed products used absolutely NO budget beyond copying and pasting the vector art kits they were given by Hasbro.  We complain about quality in the G4 line as there is a certain expected amount of "collectors" purchasing.  Even LESS quality control in G3, okay everyone?  :-p

See this beautifully illustrated children's book?  See how the delicate linework takes your eye around the scene?  Can you feel the jungle heat emanating from the pages?  Are you REALLY a monkey, Minty?

After all...  how can we believe you when a playful romp in the jungle after eating bananas looks like this:

G3 definitely had some major QC issues...

That book is ...  wow.  I can't believe they recycled the one Minty pose no less than 3 times on one page...

Oh come on! When i read 'Ohhh Minty!' in the recent topics, i thought 'OMGosh G4 MINTY RELEASE'
But, back on topic, i want that book

It's silly but G4 does the same. (Using the same vectors everywhere and over and over.)
I don't see how this shows the quality control of G3 was worse. Or what this really has to do with quality control beyond being a cheap product. (Though at least they tried making a tumble movement.)

There are not as many differences between cheap merch and quality control issues seen in G3 and G4 - Hasbro truly never changes.

VERY true.  The artwork was more original and beautiful too-  I actually know a toy designer from those days (worked on SSC)- he can't even work in the toy industry now he says because all of his work was hand-drawn/rendered/colored-  he says that all of the toy companies use computer generated images/flash- which he just can't figure out.

Makes me sad...
