Glow in the Dark Hair
« on: October 08, 2014, 05:58:52 AM »
Hi there Customizers!

I was wondering if anyone out there knew where I could get some GITD MLP hair.  DollyHair has been out of stock everytime  I check.  Are there other sites that sell hair similar to this, or does anyone have any they no longer want?  I'd gladly buy it off them if that's the case.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think any other seller has the same kind of GITD hair as Dollyhair used to sell, and sadly I don't think it will come back in stock any time soon... or ever. Other suppliers sometimes have GITD hair, but from my experience it's not the same texture. Very occasionally someone who's been customizing a long time might sell of their hair stash but any GITS hair is always snapped up immediately. I've been looking for years myself! haha.

I'd be willing to go with other sites for GITD hair.  I won't be trying to perm it, so whether it holds it's sharp won't be a problem at least.  What other sites are out there and would anyone here recommend them?

Yes, I believe the places that carry it now are all polypropylene/polysomethingorother, which is a much stiffer hair texture. I have done some ponies with poly hair and it's not necessarily bad, but it is a lot different than nylon.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I vaguely recall, or totally made up :silly:, Tina (Dollyhair) saying she wouldn't be able to order the GITD again. A while ago. Like I said I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to remember thinking to myself that it should just be taken off the site then, since she can't get it back.

I haven't tried any of the substitutes myself, because like others have mentioned, it seems they're all a polysomething type of hair which I just haven't bothered to try yet, because I usually have nylon and I know they won't mix well.

I get mine from Retrodolls UK, an while it feels different and dry. it sits fine when in a mix, all these posted the white is GITD from there, so you can see, it brushes and sits perfectly fine with DH Nylon, hope this helps.

My little customs has some white gitd in stock. I'm not sure if it feels the same as DH but I've used it before and it's fairly nice

I'm wondering about glow in the dark hair too. I was thinking of doing a modern version of the Moondreamers using Hasbro SSC dolls but to do that I would need glow in the dark hair in several colors.

Oh my gosh! I'd LOVE to see one of those customs. :D

Also, I've seen a few sellers on eBay (mostly from Hong Kong, China etc) selling Glow in the Dark hair.  No clue what the texture/etc. is like.  I like the idea of using a glow in the dark halloween wig (probably easier to find or order).

Only problem with getting a wig is the hair quality might be lower same with getting from a buyer in China/Hong kong :/
I would save getting a wig to a last resource
