Have you ever made your own wig from scratch? Do you know of a good tutorial with pictures? I just want a normal hairstyle and all I can find is a ponytail one. I don't want a dang ponytail! Anyway... Any help would be great! Thanks in advance friends.

A wig is one thing I havent made.  But I have gotton a regular wig and altered it to fit the style that I need.

You will have to make sure its weaved properly to do this though because if you part it you might see the wig cap.
 
ETA: I wonder if it would be like rehairing a custom pony.  Im not sure if you are familiar with that process, and hair that legnth would be a major paint to work with (I should know o.0),  but if you are bent on making it yourself you may want to look there, first.

I rehair lots of ponies, but I have NO earthly idea about making your own wig.  Hopefully people craftier than I can weigh in.

I've always wanted to do this, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I've made my own hair extensions, though. S'long as you buy the hair already attached all together (I forget what you call this, but if you've ever been to a hair-dresser's supply shop you'll hopefully know what I mean) you just need to sew it onto something. In your case a lace wig cap (Not the kind you put under a wig).

For clarification, it's not like re-hairing a pony.

Edit: Tracks! Hair all attached together is called hair tracks. Goodness it was bothering me that I forgot that .

By the way, I have quite a couple wigs (In varying styles), and I could take detail pictures of the way they are weaved, if you like. It may help.

Oh yeah, it's definately different than rehairing! If it was rehairing, I'd be awesome at it. Lol but anyway...

I haven't made a wig from scratch, but I do have plans to combine several wigs into one (Princess Cadence hair!)
If you're going to do any sort of wig magic, I would recommend this book:

She has full-color tutorials on everything in this book, including combining multiple wigs into one, adding colors, etc.  Definitely worth the price to me.

You'd be better off modding a pre existing wig, I'd imagine! Start with a base wig and add in extra tracks in the colors you need.  I don't know how to make wigs, but from looking at how they're constructed... it seems like a lot of fussy work that wouldn't be worth the effort.  There's also plenty of tutorials out there on how to add hair to wigs!

Haha, well if you wanna take on the challenge go right ahead!  I'd look into buying a cheap $5 wig so you can see how they're constructed (though you might be able to find some detailed shots of a wig inside out!), then once you figure that out buy some wefts of hair.  For hair, I'd recommend Arda Wigs!  They're more focused on cosplay-esque wigs so chances are you can find the colors you want, and the fibers are heat resistant.
