do your tattoos ever itch?

One of mine on my back itches, fairly often now. Its about 13 years old now, and its only been itchy for about 5 years and there is actually a small lump under the itchy part, permanently. What I assume is the tattoo was done over a small sun spot or similar, an its now grown into a mole? Or raised freckle, cant really tell as its tattooed, but thats what I think causes mine to itch. Only hope it doesnt grow wierd shaped and have to be removed, thats my fave tatt, an would look horrid with a cut out part!

Honestly Saja, I would get that checked out by your GP or a dermatologist.  Tattoo artists usually don't tattoo over freckles and sun spots (I can show my sleeve as an example) because it would be difficult to notice changes or properly care for them if they turned in to something.  It's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry I always say!

I have 9 tattoos.... the only one that itches like you said is my sea pony tattoo also on my foot :p

Heat rashes on tattoos are fairly common so if it's happening when it's warm then it's probably that. Put a cold compress or ice pack on it for a few minutes to cool it down and it should stop being itchy and raised
It's more common on ink that's been gone over a few times I think

My leg itches sometimes. I have a bit of an allergy to white ink when it's the highest percentage in a mix it appears, so the slightly raised dry patches where my skin is unhappy itch sometimes. Been chucking super moisturiser on it to try and get it sorted.

My ink only itched when it was healing- I'm covered in ink, neck to feet- over the last 14 or more years.

Usually lotion will help any itching.

My sister thinks she is allergic to ink. Her tattoos flake and flake and itch and have been fading horribly. The second tattoo artist was a little baffled, he said they most likely weren't deep enough, but all her tattoo have had to be redone so they would stay. So the second artist didn't mind a little extra money

The only instructions I got from the tattoo artist was not to lick it, or peel the dry skin.

Not to lick it??? Is it a common occurrence for people to lick tattoos???

Yeh that had me baffled too and the image i got in my head kinda made me laugh
 
Anyway I have tattoos in 4 different places and none of mine have ever itched. However I do have a birthcontrollstick operated into my arm and that does itch every now and then. So my guess is that your body does react to certing things. Even though it might not be allergic reactions per-se it will still react every now and then to things that aren't a natural part of your body.

As far a people licking tattoo I'm not really sure how much it happens but when I got mine there was a big fad of people licking each others eye ball..

I'm not kidding!!!! I've watch people do it at school and said it felt good.. gross!!!!!!
