I'm not liking the direction the movie is about to take MLP.  Not one bit.  The seaponies are freaky, half the characters are too dang dark for a kids' cartoon, and that cat is totally out of place.  I can see the Tirek-like villain, and the sorta-Griffon pirate being part of the pony universe.  But the seaponies and that cat are just...why??

I disagree I love the theme and figures they've shown so far! I'm very excited for the merponies, king, and the unicorn so far. Also the cat isn't out of place at all have been around since G1.

I'm loving the sea ponies, and Capper has GOT to be related to Katrina somehow.  Even if they don't say it in the movie, that's my headcanon now.  He's got a similar fur color and everything.

I'm torn on the sea pony castle because on the one hand it's expensive.  On the other hand it's the best G4 castle I've seen so far, in fact it's the best G4 playset I've seen so far hands down.  And I did save lots of money by not buying the previous castles, lol.

Very happy with the nautical theme.  SHOO BE DOO, SHOO SHOO BE DOO.

Personally I would like to see it go darker and avoid the "cutesy" villains. The storm villain is kind of neat. The others look a bit like they got kicked out of a disney morning cartoon to me. As others have said, G1 was darker and there were other levels they could've gone to (though I guess the cat probably is a nod to Catrina).

It probably depends how these villains are deployed as to how dark/otherwise the story is, but given the way G4 is generally, I suspect it will be on the lighter side of dark. I haven't yet seen anything G4 that really pushes the boundaries, which I guess is a general symptom of modern day kids TV. Kids are way too shielded now.

I quite like the "sea" ponies but I don't like ponies with moulded hair. I'm not sure whether I will go looking for any of these toys. I put sea in inverted commas because they're not sea ponies at all, they're merponies. They have front legs. And I actually prefer the old school sea ponies who have fins and not legs.

gonna have to get the Capper figure if I can He's the perfect Nod to Catrina with out ruining her character like they did Tirek, I'm sorry but G4 Tirek  was more dbz flavour on top of a pony related skin. still enjoyed how they did it though.

and yeah I think these are Mer-Ponies no the Sea Ponies G1 had MerPonies and SeaPonies so we just gotta see what they decide to call these ones officially?

and yeah,, G1 was a lot darker for a bubblegum cartoon show they've had to deal with psychotic birds trying to take over their home, a lady so afraid of death that she enslaved the ponies for their youth. a Narcissist enslave them for their hair and powers plush a bunch that flew over a lot of kids heads P:

I like the Tempest figure but probably not enough to buy it. Happy to see there's at least one toy I like coming out though.

Fur Real Twilight is horrifying and the Merponies are really hideous.

We barely know anything about the movie. We don't even know the plot. How can you pass such judgement on it?

Yes, they will become seaponies. An image was found of the next line of squishy fashems and they depict the mane 6 with fins. There was also leaked concept art of this months ago

Yes, they will become seaponies. An image was found of the next line of squishy fashems and they depict the mane 6 with fins. There was also leaked concept art of this months ago 

I haven't been keeping up with those things.. still they are not -really- seaponies to me, more like merponies since original seaponies had fins instead of hooves

Personally, I love the merponies and definitely want to get them!

The others I'm not so excited about, I'd have to see the movie to see how I like the characters and their designs.

I've been waiting for seaponies on G4 for years.
