Giant Blank Pony Project numbers?
« on: October 02, 2012, 04:02:45 PM »
I was wondering how many there are in existence? I'm looking to buy or trade for one and I'm worried that the chances of finding one someone is willing to part with are pretty slim if they're so rare. Does anyone know a rough amount of how many there are, or know a good source to hunt for them?
And just any other interesting facts about her too, tell me more about my grail  ^.^

I managed to snag one on ebay with really cheap shipping since the seller was not too far away. Not sure on the number of them in existence. They pop up on ebay every now and then. I've seen a few of them here on the Arena too. But I haven't been tracking them that long. I've seen like 10 of them in the last 6 months.

There does seem to be one person who sells them on ebay, but I haven't seen one come up for a little while. I'm determined to get one!

I don't think there are a ton of them in existence, that is for sure!

When she does pop up (or at least the ones I've seen) she seems to go for $100 or more.

They are very rare.  I sort of get the feeling they weren't meant for the public.  They go anywhere between $100 & $200 usually closer to $200.

I feel really lucky to have one, I payed 200 with free shipping on the kid Robot forum. I asked the selled where she came from and he said that the artist was sent three of them and only used one for the project itself.
I am almost frightened to see how much a blank G4 giant will sell for on ebay. I bet when it does happen it will sell for 1000+

Thanks for the info ^.^ I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled and get prepared to spend some big bucks :P
@Avene : Yeah I think I saw that one sell. I didn't think I could justify spending that much on a pony at the time so I let it pass... STILL kicking myself for that one now that I know more about them!

They come on to the market in 2 different ways:

1) There were 3 per artist originally if I remember rightly but they were able to request additional if required - how many each artist had left would largely depend on how many they used in their creation. Many of the single giants which appear on ebay are people who got the unused blanks from the artists.

2) Those not used for the project turned up over here via Hasbro Europe in an attempt to do something similar. However, it never came about and instead people involved seemed to end up with quite a few unneeded blanks - a lot ended up on ebay at the time for charitable auctions.

When she comes up she should be in the $160-180 price range - sometimes if she has crazy shipping she will sell lower however.

I think that might be me. I grabbed her on my birthday in August. :)

I've seen her go for more than the $180 and a little less but then the insane shipping. She's a *big* pony!

I know that Hasbro gave some to the MLP Fair Staff to sell off in support of the Fair.  There was a raffle at one of the Fairs and she was the prize and others were sold on ebay by the staff.  The one I bought, it must have been 2 years ago, had proceeds going to the Fair.  She is one of my favorites!  She is so beautifully white.  I lived in the States then and shipping actually wasn't too bad, she didn't have too far to go.  Good luck!
