Has anyone else played this? I've gotta say it's my favorite so far of the Yume Nikki fan games out there (well, except maybe Amnesia cuz I haven't played it yet lol) I just downloaded it yesterday and I've already gotten 23 effects : D

Does anyone know of a good guide for it? Or at least help me get the ones I'm missing?

I've been trying to do it blind to avoid spoilers but I'm starting to get impatient just wandering around the same areas over and over |D

Speaking of which it's just my luck that the hospital area was one of the first I wandered into, got a bit of a scare in there, haha.

I haven't played .flow yet, but I have been wanting too. I've seen a few gameplay vids that game up on Youtube when I was looking for Yume Nikki stuff before. It looks scary than Yume Nikki is.
It's on my list of horror/scary games I eventually have to play.

It is definitely a lot creepier than Yume Nikki, and that's saying something

Ah! .flow is a surreal horror/exploration game based of another game called Yume Nikki, though really you don't have to play one to understand the other. It has a very....unique atmosphere and gameplay style, you go throughout various areas in the game to collect thing called effects, most of which cause purely cosmetic alterations to your character, but some can help you progress.

Also since it was made with RPG Maker 2003 like Yume Nikki was, it's got a very old school feel to it.

Do you have to have the RPG Maker to play it? I know you didn't for Yume Nikki.
I am not sure if I still have it on the laptop or not from when I used to play Ao Oni.

Nah, the one I got works just fine without it, but it is outdated.

I think in order to play the most recent English version you have to have it.

I'm gonna try and max out my rust counter before I turn em all in though. Only one more blood stain to go~!

I'm about two thirds of the way through the final chapter and.... Oh god I didn't know it was going to be this freaky I am legit shaking right now ;A;

I've played Yume nikki and I really liked it, but I've never heard of this one. If you like this kind of really atmospheric game you should give Corpse Party on the psp a try. some of the best creepy atmosphere ever. EVER.

Where did you download it from? And how many other yume nikki type games are there? I'm really a huge fan of the original!

Gah, really I'm not very good with horror games ;A; I'm a sucker for surreal horror though and I loved Yume Nikki so I thought it'd be a good idea to play this but oh god why are there little demon things every where now why can they actually hurt me WHY DID HER HEAD JUST EXPLODE OH GOD

Unfortunately you need something called AppLocate to run the up-to-date English version, but from my understanding there aren't a whole lot of changes from version .1 to .15

As for your last question, there are a plethora of Yume Nikki fan games out there, there's Yume 2kki (which I didn't care for much), Amnesia, Yume Nisshi, LcdDem, Answered Prayers, SICKMIND, and that's all I can recall off the top of my head. I think someone's making a fighting game crossover-thing too.

I had no idea how deep that rabbit hole went. You should try eversion if straight up gorey-terror isn't your thing. that's a really good surreal spooky game.

I'm excited to look into these games, I loved yume nikki to pieces. I was even thinking about making a pony based on my favorite character. Who I'm sure has a name but I have no idea what it is lol.

I forgot to say, Do you ever go to Uboachan? There's like.. a metric ton of walk-through and all that mess if you get stuck. I just noticed now that they have boards for .flow and other fan games.

You could always look through here to find the names. Most of them are fannames or names based off of the file name.
