Seeing the other thread that has the real Greek Candle pony for sale reminded me of those ponies sold in Greece with a holiday countdown candle in the box. It has little charms/toys attached. I have one in my closet right now but I'm too lazy to see which pony it is or take a pic. Does anyone else remember these? Anyone have one? How about a pic? I'll try to get one here tomorrow. What an odd combo to sell...a pony and a candle with toys.

YES! i remember those :)
it is odd to us, but all to do with greek easter :D in greece easter is a huge deal, it is even bigger than christmas!
children get a special big toy with a candle :D the candle is an easter candle (like the ones on easter candle pony's butt) and this candle is held and burnt during the easter mass :)

Most of the ones I've seen are of later Euro ponies, like the Berrytown Family and Seven Tales Ponies. But I also have a weird G1/G2 mash up! The packaging is all G2, but the ponies attached are a rainbow baby and Talk A Lot!

LadyG, I think mine is from the Dad Berrytown now that you mention it. Do you have a pic of the G2 G1 mash up?

The only ones I have ever come across are the adult Meadowsweets, Sunbrights and Berrytowns and a lot of the Tales ponies...honestly cant think of anyone else I have seen on them
They are pretty unique though!

At Easter time a lot of toys are released with and Easter candle attached to them, as a pack.
And all god-parents buy them for their god-children, it's a tradition!
I'd love to see more pics guys!

exodus and bm ~ it was a gift sent to me by my greek pony friend :D i was totally surprised when i got it in the mail! he hasn't seen anything else like it though :( i am thinking it may have been a one off.

I love these sets, I think it is the randomness of pony and candles. A very lucky find.

I did try to press her, but can't get enough of a push on it :( Still think it's awesome though :)
snyfez, they're wonderful! I always loved how the packaging matched.
There were a lot around for a while - I think it was old shop stock - but as always, the supply ran out eventually :( I reggret not getting one at the time actually.

Apart from the official Hasbro editions, we would also have the occasional in-store, hand-made λαμπάδα (lampada = Easter Candle) made of a big, colourful candle, a few ribbons and ornaments and a random pony from old stock, usually de-boxed by the toy-shop owner. A friend once told me he would find Greek Babies in blister sold like that! I remember finding a TE Sweet Stuff (if my memory serves me right) in early '90s put together like that but i was too embarrassed to purchase her! I still keep my eyes open for old "lampadas", though!

aw, i am sorry you missed out on sweetstuff. when buying ponystuff i would always pretend it was for my neice ;) but some of it was for her... the rest was for me ;) now it is just for me and i don't care :P

I was a few minutes too late to nab one with Mommy Sunbright a year or so ago. I'm still dying to get my hands on one. Or two. Or ten, lol.

Well blow me down! Not only is it difficult enough to find a daddy pony, but you can even upgrade to the super-dooper htf sold-with-Greek-candle version!!!!! That was unexpected news but very intriguing! Snyfez, could I ask what sort of money people could expect to part with for a MIB?

Easter will be approaching soon, so I'll be in the look-out for any unusual pony stuff! I seriously doubt I'd find anything G1 any more, let alone with Greek ponies on it, but I'll see if there is anything G3 left if you'd be interested.

I bought a whole bunch of them when they were around....about 6 years back I think...
I collect MOCs, and I couldn't pass up moc sets! (top of bookcase and top shelf are greeks)
