Introductions / Re: MLPTV Introduction
« Last post by Koffeecakees on Yesterday at 08:06:13 PM »
Hiiii :3 My name is Kof, im 17 and i love mlp! I watched og mlp while growing up and was given a lot of G3s as a kid from a family friend when she got 'too old for them' and then got into G4 when it came out. I recently got back into G4 and am now hyperfixated on it! This has led me to pull out all my old G3s and now buy more G1, 2, and 3 ponies!. I just bought a few more tonight and will make sure to post my collection, with pictures, when everything comes in. My current favorite pony I have is a G1 Fizzy and a G3 March Daffodil I got NIB (It was a damaged box so i got it for a good price ;) ) I am DISO of G1 and G3 Mintys. I hope to learn about ponies and grow my collection with this site :D also i have dysgraphia so sorry for any spelling mistakes!

Customs / Re: Australia based customs! What do you use for your customs?
« Last post by Blackness on Yesterday at 05:56:25 PM »
Oh hey, another Australian! :water:

Unfortunately I can't offer any advice for the whole body repaint, I customise ponies in their original colour and never attempt a body colour change. Unsure if I would go straight to purchasing an airbrush if I were in your position - I have often thought about purchasing one myself but the decent ones are expensive, the paint can also be expensive and then you need to develop your own skills using the thing. Apparently the trick to painting a pony is numerous, watered down coats of acrylic paint and to ensure each coat is fully dry before painting another.. or you know, just stick with the original colour

I would paint and then re-root the hair. Let me know if you find any Australian suppliers for hair - I am still purchasing from DollyHair and the postage fees from the US are brutal!! Most of my other supplies I pick up locally however - acrylic paints, brushes and polymer clay (I sculpt onto all of my ponies) all sourced from stores like Spotlight or Lincraft.

Look forward to seeing your finished pony!!

Ooh, exciting! What colors are you going to use?

I think your idea with the primer and airbrush is perfect. So is heating the tabs, I think that'll work :bigups:

Customs / Trying something a little different - customizing baby buggy
« Last post by kaelynn on Yesterday at 12:28:20 PM »
I thought about customizing this the moment I got it about a year ago but I wanted to give collectors a chance first. I’ve advertised it in many different places and never got any interest in it so I decided to go ahead and customize it.

I have seen a couple customs before but not been able to talk to the customizers so I’m going in blind. I thought I’d document the process in case anyone else wants to try it in the future.

I managed to carefully disassemble most of it but I’m stuck in this spot at the moment with the axle assembly. It looks like it should come off but moderate force hasn’t been successful and I’m terrified to break it so now I’m pondering.  I could technically paint it like this but it would be difficult to get all of the white in the little nooks and crannies and I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my work and I know even the tiniest white spot would bug me.

This is the connection spot here - the two tabs are holding it from sliding out. I’m wondering if I were to carefully heat it with a heat gun if that would make it flexible enough to get them out.

🤔

Then I’m wondering what I should use to paint. At the moment I’m thinking of using a spray primer meant for plastic and then using my airbrush over that and sealing with Mr Superclear.

Feel free to chime in with thoughts and suggestions! 😂

Forgot to mention that I’ll also be de-BBEing and customizing the baby Cuddles that comes with the baby buggy.

I scrubbed all the brown algae off. And I made a discovery! There are FOUR babies! They got very active after I cleaned and two were in one corner and another two were in a different corner.

The mesh top is on and it doesn't look so bad. I can still access the top easily by pulling up a corner. Now the snails can't escape. I've changed my mind about them again, well the way they look anyway. The sellers that had the sun spiked ones were in New Jersey and Florida... but the Florida ones were way expensive, and I thought New Jersey was too far away. I looked around at other nerite snails and found some tigers from Georgia for a reasonable price with free shipping :)

I bought a proper bucket and an acclimation drip. They'll be here Tuesday. Then I'll order more ghost shrimp.

Pony Corral / Re: Pink marks on G1 Ponies
« Last post by BabyTaffeta on Yesterday at 10:47:30 AM »
The reason many pink and orange ponies get regrind is because the color red is the least stable. But LBS is right, it can happen to any color pony.

As far as yours goes, they look like transfer marks to me. Or maybe from ponywear.

That makes sense with the red color.
Thank you so much for your suggestion :)

Ooh, I didn't know Planet Earth III was out! Yes, I agree. The best nature documentaries ever. They always seem to catch something on film never seen before and I like that it focuses on more obscure animals and places.

Whoops, I've just realised it isn't Planet Earth 3 I've been watching. It's actually Mammals! My bad. ^^;
I can't wait until the third series is released though! I'd really love a Life of Birds sequel; I'm quite surprised that it hasn't been done yet. I'm an obsessive birder & I need another avian fix!

Oh wait... Planet Earth 3 did come out last year. Somehow I'd completely forgotten watching it. What a goon! :silly:
