blushing draculaura
« on: January 29, 2013, 06:17:24 AM »
So working on this custom, and I'm stuck on her cheeks... How exactly do I apply blush? I just realised I have absolutely no idea @_@

It's been resolved! Here's the finished result, so how'd I do blush wise? http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,321703.msg617086.html#msg617086

I've had success with pastels using either a Qtip or small, soft brush.

Yep I just use chalk pastels applied with a brush -- and make sure you're using a spray sealant.

I use a soft round brush [it's really better if it's not a pointed brush but has a bit of a rounded edge] just slightly larger than you'd have used to paint your details with. also? Don't get it wet. At all XD I usually start at a central point on top of the dolls cheek bone, and work out in an oval from there, letting it fade out as it gets towards the edge of the blushing. Like erm....lets see...

also guys, if you don't get the darkness you want in the blush on the first round..spray it with sealant wait for it to dry, then do it again. It will darken the color significantly. ^.^ Sometimes layering just has to be done XD

If it's pastel then it should come off with water, no acetone needed.

I thought so too. but. It's being dang stubborn, most of it will come off but. there'll be a stain left behind.

That's the bad thing, the pastels sometimes stain. Usually acetone will take it all off though. And acetone doesn't hurt the faces just the bodies XD

I notice that sealant can look gluggy after after a while as well D: more than two coats and you can see it, I also learned a long time ago not to spray TOO much fixative xDD
